Those specific recalls would still have been possible had we been a PL club, and in terms of the goalkeeper it's a worse position we're now in. Goalkeepers can be recalled at any time from any kind of loan if there is an injury crisis at the parent club, so even if we signed Courtois for the season he could be recalled in September if Chelsea found that Cech and who ever else they've got in their senior (pro contract) goalkeeping squad got injured on international duty and they only had 1 left uninjured. Unless that also left us with only 1 fit senior keeper we'd be unable to replace him until January. Remember as well we've offered Oxley a new contract so him and Jakupovic being fit would stop us being able to, and maybe even Cracknell, I can't remember if his new contract was a pro one or an extension to a youth contract. With Sunderland I assume you're talking about Elmo going back as Meyler never actually got recalled. He was on a long term loan, and the rules on those are that they can be recalled during a transfer window for the parent club so there's no change there. More of concern is that next season we're only allowed 2 domestic loans in the squad. If we're using one up on a goalkeeper the ability of the parent club to recall them in an injury crisis then we could be throwing away one of those 2 slots for half the season.
