Ryan Giggs on Saints: "These work their bollocks off, and they're good at home." :)

Easily one of the best midfielders the Prem has seen. The most decorated, scored in every season bar this latest one, was good enough to play for them until he was 40.

Tons of people have affairs. Not with their brother's wife, perhaps, but two people give in to temptation and it happens. It doesn't necessarily mean he's an all-round terrible person. Also it's none of our business, frankly, and I wish the super-injunction had never become public knowledge.

... and he`s just said of Saints at the pre-match team-talk before the last game at SMS `...these die before the end of the game`. Nice to see we`re giving 100% then, unlike his team last year.

I'm with Aberdeen Saint on this one. Overrated, in my opinion. Was a very good player, but not outstanding. Don't give a toss how decorated he was. Actually means very little indeed other than he had the good sense to stay where he was. Somewone has to be the most decorated player. Just happened to be him.

So, what, it could just as easily have been Jordi Cruyff?

I don't see how Giggs can be seen as anything but outstanding when he was in his prime.

You made the point about Giggs being the most decorated player. You wouldn't write it unless you considered it as an indicator of his prowess. However, yes it could have been Jordi Cruyff. It could easily have been Scholes or Beckham, for example, but they retired or went elsewhere.

It couldn't have been Jordi Cruyff unless he had been good enough to stay in the squad long enough to be in all those trophy-winning seasons. As in he would have to have been a hell of a lot better than he was. It could have been Scholes and Beckham, yes, because they were two of the very best as well.

One thing I would mention about Giggs. He was well liked by Ferguson. That helped his career enormously. But you never heard of the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Real Madrid wanting to tempt him away. Says a few things to me.

You don't know they didn't try. Fergie liked him for a reason, I would imagine.

Giggs was incredible in his prime. He was a regular in a side that won the treble. It's ridiculous to think that any player in a side that achieved that is overrated.

I'm not saying that there aren't/weren't better players than him - just that he isn't overrated.

You can't overrate a player that has literally achieved everything possible in the game. I can say he was amazing with complete certainty because he was. Just go on Wikipedia and look at his career statistics.

    Not for her!

I had a bonfire the other week. It was a warm day and I started it at about 930am because all my neighbors were at work. It was basically just a massive (5ft high) pile of wood, dry grass, all the stuff that had built up from gardening over the last 3 years or so. I stratigically lite the 4 corners and stood back. This ****er went up quick. I could see my fence had caught fire so I ran inside to fill some buckets up. While inside I hear this crackling noise, and I look out the window to see the neighbours holly bush had turned into a towering inferno, I couldn't believe how tall the flames were. I was really panicking at this point and having visions of burning the whole street down. I basically had to keep running between the garden and the bathroom, throwing buckets of water on everything until it calmed down.

No one ever complianed. Their holly bush is now devoid of leaves though. Even the ones that didn't get burnt have now fallen off. I don't know if this means It's dead, I hope not.

I don't know a lot about plants but I assume its roots are still alive and well and will grow new leaves. Funny story.
