Firstly, allow me to start by saying how tremendously well Newcastle have done this season. All season long many people no doubt felt that Newcastle would fall away, but you haven't. You are where you deserve to be and I for one think it would be fantastic to have Newcastle qualify for the Champions League.
There's just the small matter of a potentially huge game coming up. That game being Newcastle v Manchester City. How significant this game could be will obviously depend on the results leading up to it, but it is entirely plausible that the scenario is one of Newcastle still in 4th spot and City 2 points behind United. Should that be the case, then this game could be hugely important in terms of whether City are able to maintain a challenge for the title into the last week of the season and whether Newcastle will end up finishing in the top four.
In their last two games City have hit form. Newcastle however have maintained a level of performance throughout the season. It is a game I simply would not like to call - one that could go either way, but hand on heart it will be one small crumb of comfort should City fail in our title bid (which I've felt we would do all season to be honest) if Newcastle end up securing a top four finish. For while the former will most probably just delay the inevitable, the latter would really shake up the Premier League.
And that can only ever be a good thing.
After all, a few years ago, who would have thought it possible for the top four not to include the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and perhaps even Arsenal?
