Everything is a gamble now. You can't guarantee that anyone brought in at this stage will blend with everyone quickly at all. We are already trying to blend in Snodgrass and Ince for example. Losing Fryatt is looking bad as well.
What happens if long bangs in 20 goals by Xmas and Man U or Liverpool come in for him? No it's too far away for the mrs!!! It's a short career moves should be made for footballing reason only. He'll live to regret this I imagine
Fryatt wanted regular games plus a 3 year deal which we couldn't / wouldn't offer. I would have kept him but he will get much more game time in the championship with Forest than he would with us. Having said that I would like to see us bring 2 strikers in if we are going to be in the Europa group stages. I'm sure SB has someone lined up and if he thinks they are good enough than that'll do for me.
How can you say it hasn't paid off when he is currently at the club? Are you one of these people who ignore his contributions to the team as a whole and look solely at his record in front of goal despite the fact most of his time here he has spent playing out wide? People acknowledge when Long does it and act positively, but when Sagbo does the same, suddenly he isn't good enough... what the ****, double standards much? Also - Sagbo £1.8m, Remy £8m, Bony £12m. No comparison whatsofuckingever.
The way Quinn played on sunday he should not be going anywhere. Long going is not the end of the world ffs. Why anyone wants others to go as well beggars belief. We have Livermore and Huddlestone on a yellow card in europe. Quinn will get his chance.
I dunno how I feel about Long leaving. I like long a lot personally, I'd rather it be jelavic but £12 million is enough to get a good replacement.
I'd dearly love Sagbo to get a good run of games for us. He holds the ball up better than Long, his finishing is better than Longs,he's stronger than Long and he's even a year younger. I don't suppose he'll get those games though.
I TOTALLY agree, problem is if he doesn't score in his first few games people are going to get on his back because he isn't "a big name player". If long doesn't score for a few games people will still give him more time. A relatively unknown player like Sagbo won't.
Losing Long is not so bad, losing Elmo is not so bad, losing Quinn is not so bad, losing any two from three is concerning, losing all three is Southamptonesque and very concerning. What is ludicrous is a reported £9m difference between Long and Elmo - the world's gone bloody mad. I'm really quite chilled about Long moving, but let's see what will happen.
Where have the Elmo rumours come from? I haven't seen anything remotely official or by anybody reliable.
I think its a toss up between you getting Prozzie back or maybe a sneaky bid for Gary Taylor Fletcher! top class Seriously though, this just shows that Southampton are panicking to get players in. I can see them struggling this season (fingers crossed!)
Must be unsettling for the team to have all this uncertainty before Saturday. Get the feeling Long was popular amongst his team mates.
