Ings is in his last year of contract, and he's a massive Southampton fan. But as said prior, Ings was southamptons primary target and they couldn't get him. So I doubt we'll get him with the cash they're giving us.
He's not a bad replacement, he looks like he's a bit of both Long and Jelly, decent size and strong, but still likes to get in behind.
Deeney is a tidy player, Im more worried about his attitude personally would he blend in with the strong team spirit we have at Hull?
Of course they won't sell Ings. What sort of club sells their best striker three days before the opening game of the Premier League season? Oh wait...
People are taking about profit but maybevits just bonus cash. SB has been talking about bringing players in. He might have had £5 million to spend. With this transfer he might now have £17 million to spend. We can surely do a fair amount with that sort of money floating around. Maybe, just maybe, we're looking at the bigger picture in terms of strengthening the squad. Before anyone jumps on it, the £5 mil is to illustrate the point: I have no idea of the actual money available.
For those talking about Ings.....did we ever work out why we had a scout at the Burnley vs Blackpool friendly?
Hopefully the money will be used to pay some debt off and we will go with what we've got #ctid best business model in football, buy and sell on at a profit and its guaranteed unlike the allems other crazy ideas, we should be cheering them for finally seeing the light #ctid
I think some people need to get persepctive here. Shane has been alright, he did a good job last season but his finishing is erratic and his diving frankly embarrassing. Yes he's a good player but most of us - myself included - thought we overpaid at £7m. This is not hindisight, many said it all along. So to bank £12m is just a no brainer. I think this is potentuially the best sale in our history.
This is true! But it only works for me if Bruce had known for a lot longer then us? As always in Bruce we trust.
Just had a look on wba unofficial forum, first thing they said on hearing the news regards the bid, "his missus will be over the moon as Southampton only 50miles from Reading".
Is that a good thing? Ok he stays for now but we have a player who doesn't want to be here, then on transfer deadline day he goes and we don't have time to get anyone in
I do hate all these comings and goings. It always seems we have a settled team that we are happy with and then the merry go round starts. Probably mentioned somewhere else but I hear Elmo is probably going as well. As regards Shane Long I hope that Bruce has a replacement in his sights and it is not just a case of Allam thinking the offer of 12 mil was too good to turn down and we won't be getting anyone else in. Like others have said Long's diving has been a bit of an embarrasment sometimes and I have been a little disappointed with the amount of goals he scores. I think Ince will be great for us and hopefully will score loads.
