Decent player but not even as good as long never mind replacement. Also completely different type of player, more similar to Jelavic than Long.

If that actually happens we should get Steve Bruce sectioned.

 

Not sure if he is an improvement.

 

Replacing Long with Deeney would be a massive step back.

 

No, but I bet Steve Bruce can, and, of course, we may well have lined someone up before agreeing to sell Long.

 

Deeney would be a gamble - especially at the price quoted - considering his non-existent Premier League experience.

But quick, strong and one hell of a finisher could actually be a big step-up!

I appreciate Long is more of a 'team-player' but Deeneys goal scoring record is brilliant, if he can replicate that to any level in the premiership we'd be onto a winner.

 

Just to put one name out there - would £12m get us Benteke at Villa?

I'd be happy with Deeney - he's a great player. But, I think we need another striker too.
