7th placed Charlton take on 22nd placed Bury in a must- win game for both sides. With only one win from 8 games, ex Kilmarnock legend Lee Clarke must be feeling the pressure at Gigg Lane from their 2,000 fans. There is no less pressure on Robinson IMO. The defeat against Wigan was pitiful but excusable, but the goodwill ran out at Gillingham on Saturday. Anything less than 3 points on Saturday and the hostility and protests should start again, we are looking down the barrel of another 18 months minimum in this sh1t league. KR's options for shaking the team up are very limited, thanks to an owner who makes Fagin look like Santa Claus. Ideally at least 3/4 players need dropping - Solly, Forster-Caskey, Fosu and Kashi. Realistically, all 4 will start .... Thoughts ?
Taking bets on the lineup... 4-2-3-1? Joke if he plays that, especially against inferior opponent low down the league. Go out 4-3-3! Just score a load.
Pretty sure that's most managers philosophy... "Right lads... Let's score more than our opponents. Ready? Game on." "Right gaffer." "And as an added bonus, if you win I'll take you all to Pizza Hut. And you're all allowed to take turns on the Ice Cream Factory station." "YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Amazing how Klopp is nicking a living in this country. £6m a year salary, and they are even worse than they were under Brendan. Every game they concede identical goals from corners, and every game Klopp laughs into the camera after. Bizarre. Another snake oil salesman like Andre Vilas Boas, Ancelotti, Scolari and so many others.
Dodoo will come in for Holmes, that will probably be the only change. We should scrape this one, I'll go for 2-1. The pro-Roland faction will be ecstatic, ITTV will spring back to life, trebles all round.
Ancelotti is a legend firstly! It sounds odd saying "it's a must win" game so early in to the season, when we're in a relatively decent position - but that's exactly what it is. A defeat will see the crowd jumping back on the team and raise questions that needed answering between June-August of this year. Kashi could probably do with a rest - and in Aribo it's one that shouldn't effect the team too much. With Holmes out I think we'll need to revert to two up top but I don't foresee KR agreeing with that. If he goes with 4-2-3-1 then I'd also be inclined to put big mag out wide ahead of Dodoo or KAG (he's played there previously). As a betting man I'd look in to btts win for CAFC. 2-1 if pushed.
I don't think Dodoo will start, I think Ahearne-Grant will. 1-0 to Bury. The question will be asked again where is Darren Anderton, sorry I keep doing that, I meant Ben Reeves.
Get Reeves playing or f*ck him off. As Henry Cecil used to say of his horses, they are not there to be looked at.
The system could still work if the players upped their game. I don't know whether or not they can though. Kashi has lost form, not surprising considering the length of his absence. JFC does just about enough to get by, and seems to have stopped getting into scoring positions. DaSilva is only 18 or 19 and seems to have lost his early season attacking mojo. Solly is being overplayed. Fosu has lost confidence. Dodooo isn't very good. Amos has a weakness with crosses. A change of formation won't help any of these problems. Our early run of wins put us in a false position, and we are now returning to our default position of mid-table mediocrity.
---------- Phillips---------- ----Pearce--BFGerman---Konsa Solly ----Djiksteel---Kashi----DaSilva ------Sicknote------- Clarke -------------Big Meg I would have Sarr in a back three but he played last night against Welling so I doubt he will play again on Saturday..... I expect Gobbo to show he has a plan B!
Can't agree, don't want an invalid in the team. If he doesn't want to play we shouldn't have signed him in the first place. Can you imagine Curbs signing an invalid?
When we signed Reeves it was widely known he had a history of injuries, but most seemed happy that we pushed forward with the deal. Seems across several forms of social media that he's now becoming something of a scapegoat. Madness in my eyes.
At least partly his own fault, if he has no serious injury but failed to train all summer. Nobody is having a dig at Mark Marshall, because of course he has a serious knee injury to recover from. I don't think Charlton fans are alone in being fed up with waiting forever for a vaunted signing to get up to competition pace after skipping pre-season while touting himself around. If Ben Reeves is 'properly' injured then the fans should be told!
