I was a bit harsh in my op but to now debate it properly, what has gone wrong with Shaqiri? It's clear that Klopp doesn't trust him to come in and have an impact. What has he got to do to turn this around, is it the same as a lot of players where Klopp is taking him out until he gets up to speed?
I think he picked up a bit of an injury but for me the player isn't doing what klopp wants. I think he is standing too high up the pitch so he's not doing a quasi no 8 position. Klopp has IMO reverted firmly to a 433. he flirted with 4231 cos both fabinho and shaqiri had to play at some point. Now Fabinho is playing 433 no problem therefore shaqirir is not in. so: a) he hasn't adapted to 433. so is a right wing option only. salah is fit so... b) Klopp has lallana and keita for spare no 8 position. he's not getting in there c) we've not seen him do a false 9 role... so thats another gone This is really like an arguement about a full back almost. He doesn't play Left wing really, We don't have a no 10 so he is limited to one position, And salah is in that position.
Agreed with Mito - in 4231, Shaqir can play advanced and not worry about defending as much. But we’re too exposed in a 433 when shaq plays in the middle 3. I think we should always play 4231 in certain games against the dross so we can destroy them.
