I too would have liked a more attacking display. But who knows? He is looking at the big picture. There is a big game coming up against Chelsea in a few days. Preserving the players legs?

If we do get through then the Sevilla match is forgotten, and it is a new challenge against a more difficult team.

Although I didnt like the performance the crocodile tears of lawrenson and Wright and co are rather nauseating. Sure they want us to do well don’t they?

Also, if the second leg ends 0-0 after 90 minutes, Sevilla get an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal. It's not a great position to be in.

The whole reason away goals were introduced was as an added incentive for teams to attack away from home. We chose not to take up the opportunity so it's our own doing if it comes back to bite us.

Come on, King! Fergie lost to worse sides than Seville. We came undone one of those years by MIGHTY Monaco. We won only 2 Champions League Trophies in Fergie time. But the irony is that we started performing better when Fergie readapted the team to CL style. We were too naive before 2008 and we were always caught out by not always better teams, but smarter teams.

But you're absolutely spot on when you talk about money spent. But if this game all comes down to money spent, Mourinho should be doing far better with the resources when we play in big games.

Another factor this year is that everyone is now using Pep as the benchmark for success. The difference is that City had a fantastic team before he took over and he has certainly spend more than anyone else in the world. Of course he's a great coach, but even he needed the right players to implement it. But how many coaches would do much better job than Mourinho? That is debatable. Even Zidane is struggling with his players and I bet if we played just like Tottenham and find ourselves in their league position, people would still complain that it is all "boring" Mourinho.

Overall, I don't think that game was as bad as the so-called professionals are reacting. Worst thing that we could do right now is changing the manager again in search of some holy grail.

Second leg has not been played. So what's the value of this hypothesis? Let the team play! If we win, we would all celebrate. If we lose, we will take the criticisms and Mourinho would definitely take the blame. What is wrong is the negative attitude due to expectations.

Fking Lawrenson! You hear the way he talks about Liverpool, you would think they've won the FIFA (Country) World Cup. They've spent nearly as much over the past few years with nothing but some good meal in between several horrible ones. Yet, Klopp is "CERTAINLY" a better manager. Nah! Fk that!!

I wouldn’t say it was a good performance. But I wouldn’t say we didn’t try to score that away goal. And the 0-0 is not as bad as many have claimed. We will know for sure at OT. Anything but a win we are out. But if we can’t beat Sevilla at home then we don’t deserve to progress.

I remember calling for LVG to go for the first time when we had an inept unacceptable performance (a draw) at home against PSV. I hope it won’t come to that.

I actually said this. Why are you signing Lukaku when you have Rashford

We've got zero chance of winning the league so why do this?

Surely we target the comp we can actually win over the one we can't?

And if it's to protect top four, to get back into the competition we're then not bothering trying to win, then what the **** is the point of all this?

A bit extreme isn’t it, chief?

A draw at Sevilla means United don’t want to win it? In a cup competition, only if you are dumped out you’ve got no chance.

I didnt say he was “resting” players like the RS rest players for the league and FA cup and promptly get dumped out. I think the message he may have given (deliberately or subconsciously) to his players “that a draw would not be a disaster and we should not risk a defeat to get a win”. Goodness knows but I am sure the Chelsea match would have been on his mind. It would have been strange if it hadn’t been.

Because putting one over your former employers is massive to him but, let's be honest, largely irrelevant to everyone else.

Great to see Jose has his priorities all sorted out.

I am coming across as his main apologist here but I really don’t want to. It is also United ‘s too as losing this weekend would do serious damage to our chances of staying in top 4 but don’t let reality intrude into our enjoyable demonising and lynching of the man.

Got to agree with you here Chris, the way we are playing it is only a dream that we can win the CL, whilst keeping that in mind we have Chelsea, Liverpool, (Spurs?) and City to play in the league which means we could drop many points. We are far from safe in top 4 and in no position to rely on winning the CL so trying to manage the games to do the best in both competitions is the only realistic way to go.
Without management we could end up with nothing, out of CL in quarters/semis, FA Cup semi maybe and by that time lost ground to go 5th in PL. Play the weakened team in the low risk games and save the best for the very hard games we have left so we have a great chance of doing well in all 3 comps.

How about simply going out and trying to win some games?

Have you seen our squad by the way? Does it look in need of resting, metaphorical or otherwise?

We've got Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Mata but best we make sure we don't lose to those awesome Spaniards, eh boys?

The bloke is an embarrassing cock end.

Sure. Sevilla should not be viewed as awesome at home. Three times consecutive winners of the Europa (shafting the RS along the way) , we should just be able to brush them aside at their home ground. A draw at that ground? One of the worst United displays for which JM should be criticised.
