Not sure about that bit to be honest, being stupidly stubborn I would agree with because he will not do what others insist he should.
He has many ways dependant on circumstances so is not stuck in any particular way, just stubborn as ****.

That's all true but they were there for the taking. You could have easily put the tie to bed tonight. Risky tactics taking a 0-0 back home.

Because we went at them from the whistle. Exactly what you should have done tonight.

Not really, it's great to rack up 4 or 5 goals in games where the oppo let you, 3 points in the bag is nice. It's just as important to score a goal in games where they won't let you though, that can get you 3 points too.
Their is a reason City are streets ahead of both of us and it's not the amount of goals they have scored, it's the amount of games they have scored in.

Fergie never came up against a Spanish side as poor as that, and to be honest it's irrelevant where they are from. Man for man they are a poor side. Apart from the big 2, and to a much lesser extent Atletico Madrid, the rest of La Liga are bang average. That Seville side wouldn't make the top 10 in the PL IMO.

I think we probably will get through the tie, but with a 750 million pound squad, and players on 500k a week, we should be going to places like Seville and dominating the game. Instead we've been dominated tonight, and had to rely on our brilliant keeper to keep them out.

It just isn't good enough for me, I'm afraid <ok>

I'd stick Lukaku, Sanchez and Pogba on the bench. The 3 most overpaid players in world football at the moment!

Have Mctominay and Matic in midfield, with Martial, Lingard and Mata playing behind Rashford as striker.

I honestly think that would be a much more effective side <ok>

I don't think it would be more effective. Mourinho's tactics simply kill attacking play. In the past he's inherited confident attacking sides but he didn't have that ready made platform at United and doesn't seem able to create it. In other words it doesn't matter who we field, Jose's limitations have been exposed - he's a defensive coach and that's it.

Whilst I do agree Mourinho's tactics don't suit attacking players, I still think we would do better with different personnel up top. I happen to think Rashford is a much better player than Lukaku, and I said this before we signed Lukaku. I also think Martial is as good as Sanchez and still being a youngster has way more potential.

So I don't really get why Mourinho signed either, spending millions in the process on fees and wages, as we had young players in the team already who for me are much better options.

Just not true, he has very rarely had his preferred centre back pairing on the pitch together and I am sure he is less than convinced about the left back position. Even the other players are starting to doubt the centre back pairing of late, Valencia is constantly backing off when being attacked because he is afraid to let players past him because he is scared the CB will fall over or dive in and give a pen away, when happy with the CB he goes into a tackle and usually wins.
When Jose is happy with the defence he will let the rest of the team play as he has done at other teams.

The centre back problem has been going on for longer than Mourinho has been around, for the last about 4 seasons, our centre backs have been in a constant rotation with the injury table.

Smalling, Jones, Bailly, and Rojo are all injury prone, and basically get selected through default, as it's very rare that any more than 2 of them are ever fit at the same time.

This just causes chaos at the back, as every week the team and the centre backs are having to adapt to a different centre back pairing.

Then you add in the arrival of Lindelof who Mourinho clearly doesn't rate, and who only gets a game when 3 of the 4 are injured like tonight, and you've got major problems defensively when your 4th and 5th choice centre backs are playing.

Mourinho has not done anything to solve our injury prone defence, if anything he has added to it by signing Bailly, who's also always injured, and Lindelof who he thinks is worse than all 4 of them.

To make matters worse, he plans to solve the defensive problems in the summer by signing Alderwiereld from Tottenham, who funnily enough is currently injured.

Villarreal were that poor back when we played them. Think we came up against them four times in two seasons and ended up with four 0-0s.

Difference is that was Villarreal parking the bus against us, rather than us being the ones defending for 60+ minutes...

Our style of football, starting to really grate on me. We should be dominating teams like Seville with the money we spend.

He slows the game down. That's why we got rid of him.

He is good for a few games and then becomes a Wilkins-style crab. Mikel II

Shame we wasted money on 2 injured, possibly worse, players... actually 3 if you include Barkley!!

If there is any truism in football it is this:

A side which does not lose is more likely to win a knock out tournament. A side which wins more is likely to win a league.

This sounds obvious. A loss and you are out. Draws keep you in.

This is not true because of the away goals rule. A 1-1 draw at home and were out.

That is the main reason I am frustrated that we just settled for a 0-0 as I think you should be going for an away goal.

The game at OT now is never going to be comfortable for us, as we will need to get 2 goals without reply, before we have any sort of cusion. If they get 1 goal before we get 2, it gives them an advantage in the tie and something they can hang on to.

I just think it's a risky position to be in, not scoring away from home.
