I've seen that Craig Whyte is supposed to have put in seven bids for what I would think was Rangers' number one transfer target of the year.

Seven bids? What the hell was the starting point for Whyte? I can't see what miniscule incremental improvements each bid must have had to squeeze in seven refusals, before Whyte started to get the picture that his extensive transfer dealing magic wasn't working.

From my point of view, Boughera was always going, so there was money coming in from him. If you really wanted Goodwillie, shell out the dosh needed and get your main target in. Good for the team, good for the fans. It would have given a boost to Ragers. But Whyte couldn't manage even that.

Couple that to some of the other transfer failures that have plagued Rangers close season, are you Rangers fans starting to get a bit worried about what players will be coming to your club?

It doesn't seem that Whyte is up to the task.
 
I think maybe Rangers' plan was to try and get him on the cheap based on the fact that Goodwillie is a Rangers fan (allegedly) and he'd hold out for a move to Rangers rather than go anywhere else - trying to force UTD's hand!

DUFC have stated they wanted £2million up front. So, why not try bidding closer to that from the outset!

Strange dealings (especially when you look at Miller - Bursaspor said they wanted no less than £800k - Rangers allegedly bid £400k and then £600k).

Maybe Bain wasn't as bad at transfer negotations as some people accused him of!

Judging by what?

Spending close to £3m on Ortiz, Wallace and Goian as well as extending the contracts of McGregor, Whittaker, Weir and Davis.

As for Goodwillie I always thought he was worth £2m and that we should have went for him straight up. Obviously others at our club think or thought that was too much of a risk.
 
Goodwillie is never a £3 million player. We have enough strikers that can do the job in the SPL, let's spend the money on another centre half and creative midfielder. If Davis gets injured we are snookered.
 
FFS Rangers are too free and loose with money under Murray, now they are too tight with money under Whyte I would put it down to win some lose some. I think McCoist is too open about the transfer dealings if he was to only talk about them once they are done or nearly done then it wouldn't look as bad.

I think the tactic behind the publicity is to get the player also pushing for the transfer to go through like they did with that wee mouthy prick from Killie.

I think Rangers might regret missing out on Goodwillie like Celtic must do after failing to buy McCarthy (or to a lesser extent Fletcher).

Eh, judging by his general failure to attract his initial targets.

Judging by the fact that he can put the effort to put seven bids in and fail with every one.

Judging by the fact that I think the rest of Scotland knew that Stephen Thompson wasn't going to let Goodwillie go on the cheap, but Whyte clearly didn't have enough nouse to figure that out.

Judging by the fact that for the player Rangers could have got, for the interest that it would have generated and for the boost it would have given the team, £2 million is nothing. Whyte couldn't figure that out.
 
Not really Cossy, we never got Hemed, because he preferred Spain (SHOCK HORROR).

Everyone else we've bid for, we've either been too low or too slow.
 
TBF Goodwillie said he didn't want to go to Rangers so you could have offered £10m & he still wouldn't have gone <ok>
 
No doubt McCoist will still be saying we're in with a shout of signing him when he's making his debut for Blackburn.......................by coming on for the last 5 minutes against Swansea midway through the EPL season.
