Following on from Dona's idea, should we just let Kaboul take all of our free-kicks, but tell him to aim at the best player in the opposition's wall and hit it as hard as he can?
Worst case scenario: the player moves out of the way and we score. <ok>
 
i was serious about the hypnotist idea by the way.

talent is there..belief and concentration however is something that needs to be churned out of the lads.
 
I think that it's the same problem that we have with penalties.
We don't appear to practice them enough.
 
i think we probably do..however the pressure of a real penalty situation is where the players falter..that must surely be a lack of concentration and belief.


ive played park football..ive been in that situation where ive stepped up to take a pen in hope and fluffed it..however i have also stepped up to take a pen and told myself that there is only one winner..me...that im going to find a spot and slot it in and succeed...and i have.

i truly believe it is in the head...i truly believe the players need classes off the pitch in order to get in touch with themselves.
 
If you practice enough, then you'll have the belief.
Knowing that you're good at something and you've done it hundreds or thousands of times gives great confidence.
 
Just read all the discussion about dead ball situations.
Its also been one of my frustrations over the years watching Spurs with so many gifted players unable put a static ball in the right place.
We have so many coaches at Tottenham are any of them proficient at teaching them how to take a corner or free kick?
Why not ask Ginola to tutor these players- none better in recent years i'm sure you'll agree.
While were at it, can anybody tell me what Gallas says to Rafa just before another failed free kick where he is also negligent to the offside rule.
 
I've yet to see Gallas for us, as he was for Arsenal and Chelsea at corners, he was worth a few goals a season....not one for us yet. <steam>

I'm quite happy with Rafa for penalties atm, I still dread them, but no where near as much as I used too.
 
Only now managed to come online and saw this thread which is a subject I started yesterday and had a little moan about and also Dona Mara I suggested Friedel takes the free kicks after seeing Howard yesterday.

As has been said, VDV was a specialist before coming as was Bale. However the one class free kick this season belongs to Pav at Rubin Kazan.

Surely it's possible with so many talents on the pitch that one of them could practise for an hour a day.

Another option is to aim for the hands in the wall and work our way forward until the penalty- then it's 50/50.
(Ta'arabt isn't too bad- maybe put in an offer)
Also Bostock can take them.
