There is no doubt that Sess' best position is in the central attacking role. I honestly expect him to be our most important player next season. For me it can only be good new's that Bruce see's him playing in the Centre, mean's he will definately sign a decent winger.

Agree to disagree mate, i think he's gonna be a revalation there, and playing alongside those players will help him, and i wish him all the luck in the world (after the first game off course)

Would love to see him do well mate, and I think he will eventually, but not this season......not when he is competing for a place in a midfield that includes Meireles, Gerrard, Lucas, Maxi, Adam, Aquilani, and Downing (potentially).

Sess as a second striker is an idea I love.

But it means we're left with one out and out winger in the shape of Larsson. Which I don't love, need to sign to get some width.

I may be alone here, but I think the creativity of Sess in a free role behind the main striker Gyan (Wickham as sub) is something we should be building our whole team around. Unfortunately I don't see our team as being defensively strong enough to cope with having just one holding/defensively minded midfielder, so the only only other option is to sacrifice a 2nd out and out striker. I think a top quality left winger or a good striker who knows how to play off that left wing would give us some of the best attacking options we have seen in years.

I just have an inkling the team for Liverpool will look like this:

--------------- Mig. ---------------
Bardo - Brown - Bramble - O'shea
------------ Cattermole ------------
Larsson ---- Gardner ---- Welbeck
--------------- Sess ---------------
--------------- Gyan ---------------

If I'm right, I will be over the ****ing moon!

Love that team - although http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php says cattermole ois out with "No Return Date" and I'm not sure we'll get Welbeck so may need to look elsewhere for that role. I'd also have O'Shea at RB and BVardo at LB personally but the team the same other than that

I thought that Sess had a bit of a slow start for Sunderland, but really started to show what he is made of in the last few games of the season.
I'm hoping for big things from both him and Gyan this coming season.

Be interesting to know how many games they played together, and how well they done.......

Mignolet

Bardsley O'Shea Bramble Riise

Catts Gardner

Larsson Sess (Adam)Johnson

Gyan

I'd love to see that! Fulham have had a bid accepted for Riise of about £2.5mil so I dont see why we can't try and hijack it. Now it's looking less and less likely that N'Zogbia is coming so why not go all out for Johnson? He looks like a quality player being held back by Man City's huge squad and even bigger transfer budget!

Then in terms of striker I say we should keep on trying for Welbeck on loan. He looked good with Gyan and could also provide backup on either wing.

best thing IMO with Gyan upfront and Sess having a free role just behind obv. depends on the opposition and who's available and our form with regards to how we set up but if thats how we are going to play for the majority of the season that will do me

set up with a midfield and strike force off

-------------- Gardner ---------- Cattermole ----------------

Larsson -------------- Sessegnon ------------------ Welbeck

------------------------- Gyan -----------------------------

Welbeck is the key IMO if we need to go 4/4/2 he can play alongside Gyan and Sess can move out to the wing. I seen one of the journo's put on twitter that Brucie is holding fire with regards to signing a new striker till he hears from Sir Alex after Man Uniteds tour to see if we can have Welbeck back for another year.

Would love a pacy, direct winger (N'Zog or someone like him) as the main signing

Saw a very interesting TV show last night here in Oz, it was a Premier League preview and Sess was interviewed , he said that he became very worried last season when we went on that disastrous run and was considering his future at the club , but was happy when he scored because he doesn't consider himself as a striker , I'm just wondering wether or not Brucie has seen the interview.
He said that he was now settled at Sunderland and he has no problems whatsoever.

He took a little while to get into his stride, which is natural, and coupled with that horrific run he must have wondered what was going on after leaving PSG!

But he's here to stay now. Going to be a HUGE player next year.
