As I do not follow football in Europe other than the EPL, who would be serious targets for us in January ? I am guessing most people would agree we need a left back, two centrehalves and a striker that can play accross the line like that Lens fellow. Some would say we need a no nonsense midfielder as well. I would say a budget of 10 million per player but you will have to think about up and coming players as wages above 45,000 a week will be too high, for instance Kompany only cost 6 million but I would hate to guess at his wages (probably in the region of 150,000)

Still think Simon Kjær would be ideal. Not really a first team fixture at Wolfsburg and would probably be happy to come here.

Buttner would never come here, he's burnt his bridges with Cortese.

Well I successfully predicted the Mayuka signing, so here comes my next amazing prediction: Michal Kadlec from Leverkusen. You heard it here first.

    Where's he play Joe?

(Part of me wants you to answer left wing just so someone can come and start a debate)

Left and center, like any good social democracy. But yeah, seriously, he plays left-back and centre-back.

I'm not a massive fan myself, but we seemed to be linked strongly to Rhys Williams in the summer, until he got injured at the 11th hour. Now seems to be over his injury and playing for Boro again. I can see the appeal would be how versatile he is CB, RB, DM. However I don't think he would be drastically better than what we already have.

Dawson on the other hand would be a major coup for us. Asked my Spurs supporting mate what he thought of him today, to which he replied "amazing" why aren't Spurs playing him then, I asked. "because AVB is a tit!" ....fair enough.

Isn't Ogbonna a bit good for us? Only 24 and breaking into the Italian senior team.

Ogbonna would be ridiculous as would Dawson, i'd take a big statement and say those two combined would be more of a statement than Ramirez. Although that is partially due to the timing in january.

I got told we had a bid accepted of 12.5mil, only for his club to back track at the last min. I wouldn't put anything past Cortese ambition wise tbh.

Ogbonna would cost more than that now. Good player, but out of our grasp now.

You guys need to get on the Kjær train. Only 23, established international, solid as a rock, out of favour at Wolfsburg, won't be on silly money in Germany. Would be an excellent, and realistic, signing.

Kjaer would be good, but I think Magath said he does want him in and around the team this season.
