And I can't understand why it's an issue anyway. We don't set the fixture list. The stance of the club has always been, throw us out/deduct points if it doesn't suit everyone else to move the fixture. So if the FA/PL etc DON'T throw us out, take it up with them. If the FA/PL set alternative fixtures at ludicrous times; take it up with them. Trying to force us to play on that date was part of the "it was really their fault agenda" that has been removed so guess what! we are back to a simple choice. All participating clubs are either happy to accommodate us or they aren't and protest. Don't try & shift the blame/guilt on to us because you don't want to seem unfeeling or callous. I for one in this money game of today understand & wouldn't take it personally if another club protested that it didn't suit them. Just as long as they don't try & hide behind some kind of moral judgement that we should honour our dead by their rules. Don't confuse the protest for justice with a memorial for those lost. They are not the same thing. Arguably like chanting this subject is only abused in the media and by some non fans. As for the links with political purges in the 80's that's where conviction politics gets you: a polarised society. Thatcher may have started it, and in the end been the better more ruthless player (being in power helps) but the Left veritably sprinted towards the extremes in their "war" against the Tories. Screw the actual working class in the middle they were just pawns in a power struggle. Neither sides people on top gave a crap it's just the Left & the Unions were incompetent & largely powerless. As a result we were left being represented after the Tories created a wasteland with Blair & Blue Labour: working class screwed for yet another decade. The image of LORD Prezzer should tell you all you need to know of how much the interests of the W/C forge Labours plans now. Seriously for all his talk of Eton boys can anyone really differentiate between Cameron, Millaband & Clegg? Career politicians, never did a days work in their lives.
Surprise surprise. The Northern Echo reported a retired POLICE officer who was at the show said: "It was a foul-mouthed tirade and it spoiled our night." Read More http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/2012...lice-lying-b-s-100252-31859850/#ixzz26pSftscm
By time the Sun has finished with the story he'd have been roaring drunk, pissing on the audience, attacking paramedics and stealing the handbags of old ladies when they fainted.
I trust that we will never play on the 15th. That is a line drawn sadly in blood. The fact that other clubs do not take a similar stance is up to them. If there is a penalty to pay for this stance then I hope that the club are prepared to accept it because the fans most certainly are.
Thank you for your replies to my question. I personally can fully understand if your club carry on not playing on the 15th and that should be your right if i am honest. As one poster pointed out other clubs could take a stance but don`t. I don`t fully agree with the point that by not taking a stance certain anniversaries will be forgotten ( especially by teams most closely affected). Whether a team does not play and holds a remembrance instead or a team plays, yet holds a remembrance, really comes down to personal choice on what that particular clubs wishes are. On occaisions some teams have a minutes silence, whilst others have a minutes applause, i personally find a minutes applause a bit embarassing but that is my personal choice. Anyway like i said thanks for the replies.
My comment regarding other teams was not meant to be disparaging. Each club, along with its fans should be able to chose how they will commemorate tragic anniversaries.
