Not every championship club is wanting a manager and it would all depend how desperate he was to have another chance. He could wait for 5 years for the ideal job or he could walk straight into one now.
i think you'll end up with curbishley. when you see what's available there isn't much really - if you're going for an older name whose been out of the game i'd say hoddle would be better than curbishley but it all points to alan - lives locally, his assistant was seen at your game last night... ironically, i said he'd be the man you should appoint when magliton left. i wouldn't say that now though. football has moved on. billy davies is a man i despise with a passion. he'd be a good fit for you
it wouldn't happen, it won't happen. it just won't. he isn't a viable option for you at this time. he's still in a bloody job for a start! how long are you going to leave this with hutchings in charge cos (in the words of ray wilkins) my word, if you think jewell was **** then hutchings will blow your mind!!
I'm really toying with this one, each manage I think of has pluses and minuses. I would be delighted if the club appoint Tisdale with a long contract and a clear plan of where we want to go, rather than someone on a short term contract coming in to just firefight his was out of this situation. For me Tisdale is top: he's had success at 2 clubs, plays good football, has a good knowlegde of lower leagues and I believe he's a bit of a character, so perhaps as a club we could make him and due to him being a young up and coming manager hopefully the fans will be onside from the off and be patient plus it would mean IMO that we are still going down the long term route of keeping our finances in check. But the negatives are would he save us this season and would he be a big enough name to really take on ME and Clegg to build the club up?? Burley - I don't think I'd like to see as I don't really think going back is a good thing but there's a little nagging doubt in the back of my mind (probs thinking with my heart) in that he knows the club, he built us up before and we need someone who knows what the club are all about, as I said we need someone to come in and build us up!! It would bring the Ipswich feeling back to the club. Coyle - I like Coyle, he's a decent manager but do we want a manager who has just been sacked for failing at a club, he IMO is a little like Jewell, his teams sometimes lack resiliance. Ferguson (Darren obviously) - I'm not overly sure of his managerial ability but he's done very well at Peterborough and they play good football, plus he's a character who I don't think suffers fools gladly, also has a good knowledge of the leagues. But he took Preston down when they were in a similar position to us. Curbishly - was a good manager and if he came in with the mentality he had whilst he was at Charlton, i.e building the foundations of the club then great. But he's been out of work for 4 years, is a big name (large wage?) and also I wasn't convinced at the job he did a West Ham. Others I geuss are Robinson, McCarthy, Davies, I just hope that we haven't already got someone lined up who is out of work, the club need to take their time and look through all the options!!
As I said previously it was only if he was out of work and I dont think its a likely option I just dont think it is the most unbelievable option either. You've made your view clear and I hopefully have aswell so will leave it there mate
you're not the same club you were then though. plus jewell hadn't achieved anything other disaster for nearly a decade! keane was different, but he was appointed because of who he was. you are not an attractive proposition. you would be for an up and coming manager like abbott or tisdale, they'd jump at the chance, while old school managers like mccarthy and davies see a chance to get back into the game. the managers who have recently impressed will not be in the running. anyone should be able to see that.
keeping on Adkins but changing the reasoning, Im actually not convinced by him at the moment. He's currently reminding me alot of Burley. Great with a limited budget and within the confines of the championship but get to the top tier and given a bit of money and he appears to have gone mad. 3 keepers so far this season and signing Gaston Ramirez, one of europes most wanted seems to me like upsetting balance, unity and squad harmony. We saw it ourselves with signing George and Sereni.
Nobody has mentioned Shearer or Dennis Bergkamp, cant be no worse, personally i would like to see a decent young manager from abroad!
Why don't we appoint Supers. He knows ITFC and anything to do with football better than anyone else in the whole world ever, and in the future. Come on kid, now's your big moment x
Touché I'm trying to be nice to you Supers. I've been impressed by the reaction from City fans. I guess you're commenting on our present troubles from past experiences. We're a poisoned chalice methinks
Have to agree with this. I really rate Adkins but this season he's gone against the grain and just spent alot of money on proven talent. He so far hasn't really evolved the club. They've tried to run before they can walk!!
not poisoned, no. but you've really got to get this appointment right. i'll let you make your own minds up as to what that means in terms of style and calibre of manager and where they take you. if you want to purely stay up this season, and that's your only aim, then someone like mccarthy would be perfect. if you want a long term plan with potential but run the risk of being relegated, then a younger, more talented and ambitious man is required. i personally think you'll go for the old, tried and tested man to save your bacon this season, then be back here again in 12 months time, wondering who you'll plump for this time...
I spent alot of the game looking for your banner and the rest shaking my head at Jewell's brown jumper...
