A lot of people who just associate him with Chas and Dave won't realise what a well respected musician he was and how many singers and bands he backed or was part of. Was part of Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers when I saw them.

I was only reading about him last week. He played on some big hits in the 60s, one of which I was surprised about but for the life of me I can’t now recall.
Chas, the man who said it how it was when it came to nagging women. RIP.

I have a Chas (and Dave) anecdote - about 25 years ago I bought tickets to see them at a club in Scunny - I didn't fancy sitting in a club watching bingo, and other such entertainment till they came on so me and the boss went to the pub round the corner from the club for a few; we walked into the bar to be met by Chas, Dave and 3 or 4 rough looking guys who turned out to be their roadies, playing pool, downing pints and chasers and having a right good laugh with the locals. They were having such a good time that they failed to walk round the corner to the venue for their first slot - ten minutes after their no show the club's committee turned up en masse in the pub and, for a few minutes, it looked like a ruck was going to ensue. Long story short, they stayed in the pub till past closing time, got pissed as farts, sang a few songs with the locals and generally gave a great show ...... just not in the club round the corner!

But here it is...from the Charles and David Xmas show in 1982, with Chas tinkling the ivories
Apparently at one of Clapton's weddings there was a jam session with a group comprised of Chas, McArtney, Harrison and Starr.
They may well have played a couple of tunes associated with Pattie B ?
