He's scored more goals in Euro and WC finals than any England player apart from the other Evertonian Lineker.

Amazing fact but a fact nonetheless.

Yeah you miss the point, if more countries are created in the next 10-20 years, yeah it'll get broken easy, but if there aren't then not

The mystery is why "God" was so **** for England. Too fat? Too coked up? Massively overrated?

    All of the above!

Yep, his captaincy has seen England fall to an all-time low in the rankings so once he's out the team it's only a matter of time

It's irrelevant who I support. We're dealing in facts.

  10. 2006...? Robinson, G.Neville, A.Cole, J.Terry, Rio, Gerrard, Beckham, Lampard, J.cole, Rooney and Owen

2008...? James, G.Johnson, A.Cole, J.Terry, Rio, Gerrard, Beckham, Lampard, J.cole, Rooney and Owen

2010...? James, G.Johnson, A.Cole, J.Terry, Rio, Gerrard, Beckham, Lampard, J.cole, Rooney and Crouch

2012...? Hart, G.Johnson, A.Cole, J.Terry, Cahill, Gerrard, Walcott, Lampard, Milner, Rooney and Welbeck

2014...? Hart, G.Johnson, Baines, Jagielka, Cahill, Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, Wilshire, Rooney and Studge

It's only the last couple of tournaments where you can question the team around him but it was hardly poor. The manager didn't help in those years though <whistle>

No. For your theory to work the amount of new countries needs to keep rising incrementally for a n other player to break that record

Look at the midfield in all of those, no creativity at all.

I will ask again, why? will all the present new countries suddenly become good?

  18. If you had said no balance or shield I'd have agreed but creativity...? Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, Rooney himself, Wilshire and even Glen Johnson! <laugh>

England's problem was always the lack of a defensive minded midfielder. Gerrard was asked to do a job there many times, we tried Barry, Butt, Parker, etc too, the only one that looked decent was hargreaves but as soon as he started to look good he got injured for forever!

Look again at those midfielders, then look at the strikers and tell me they were a fit. Beckham and Gerrard were great at dead ball situations and crossing, not ideal for strikers of the stature we had. Lampard was never very creative but finished moves off well. Cole never did it enough and Wilshere has had about 3 good games (two of those being his last two). Rooney can't be expected to score if he is the one creating.

Hargreaves has been our only proper DM for a long time, I agree with that.

I think Owen, Torres and Suarez would disagree with you that Gerrard isn't creative and only decent at dead balls.
