In the office at work and one of the team came in and said there had been a bomb explosion in Wall Street. Turned on the news and by then the first tower was on fire, as we were all sat around the TV (usually used to watch racing, Wimbledon, Test Match etc) we were all muttering about how awful it was when the second plane hit tower two.
Over the course of the day the fires took hold and eventually the towers collapsed. Watched CNN/Sky/BBC all night into the early hours and haven't been able to stomach watching anything to do with it since. I wasn't alive for Kennedy being assassinated, didn't care much about the Berlin Wall coming down, 9/11 was the defining event of my generation as far as I am concerned.
Multiple angle shots of the planes hitting the towers were shown from all over the streets and buildings of New York and across the bay too. If anyone still thinks it was all a hoax and clever special effects you need your head checking. All that guff about steel girders not being able to melt and the CIA and Jews planting bombs was what really happened just so you can say you aren't a sheep and don't believe everything you are told is nonsense.
When all else fails follow the money. US/UK invade Iraq, skint Saddam wasn't worth a w.ank. Did we invade Afghanistan for their riches? Goats and heroin is all they are good for.
The fundamentalist Muslims who kicked this all off are still laughing at the West. We may never see another 9/11 but the murderers are still murdering in the name of Allah but only a few at a time instead of thousands. Invasion, reprisal, invasion, reprisal repeat to fade.
