well then it's hardly the guy's fault if he punches someone, and that person falls and whacks himself on a kerb. It could happen to anyone. I've punched people, they've gone down, but so far all kerbs have been avoided.

So if you do go too far, become vindicative and kill/paralyse someone over something ridiculous, you deserve any punishment you get.
