I dont remember what the commentators said about it during the game. I was yelling at the tv at the time.

The guys back in the studio talked about it for quite a long time. They are Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe both said it wasnt a red card and both said it should have been a yellow. They actually went on for a good bit how they believe the refs are ruining the English game with their decisions the last couple years. They made it far more about these types of decisions in general than just what happened on the pitch today.

There are some videos of them talking about it on facebook but they arent posting the entire conversation only a min or so of it.

I confess, I am prone to the odd bit of overreaction immediately after a game.

No. Sorry thats rubbish. He really didnt. Watch it again and get back to me. Soldado rolled Davies definite foul. Hudd kicked their player definite foul, maybe a booking. Robbo not a foul. Meyler not a foul.

Ramirez a dick, cant blame the ref as you say. the ref let Jake off with his lunge.

The crowd were going mad cos they didnt know what Ramirez had done is all. I agree we needed to put that pressure on the ref but ultimately his decisions were spot on.

I should add, in the name of balance, that Livermore could easily have been sent off.

The thing is, that Huddlestone, Livermore and Ramirez all reacted the way they did because of the frustration caused by the poor refereeing today.

Funny the linesman never saw vertonghen clearly stick his knee into Ramirez whilst he was on the floor, Ramirez simply slapped him on the arse and he dropped to floor like he'd been shot. This following the embarrassing reaction by Tompkins yesterday just shows everything that's wrong with the modern game.

Most people disagree with you, so I'll go out on a whim here and say you're talking bollocks, dear. <ok>

I disagree, I thought the refereeing was very, very one sided today.

You are the first to spot this, but you are also the first to be right.

I think this weekend has been particularly bad in terms of playacting, diving & crappy refereeing, there's very little honour in the game anymore & it's getting worse. I guess the game just reflects society, i mean Jeez, people are voting UKIP for chrisakes!

Don't see how that's relevant to the thread, but okay.

I said to my mate at the game he's off here by what we could see of the incident from the east Stand but I've watched it back umpteen times since I got in and I get more annoyed each time I see it he clearly leaves the knee in, yeah Ramirez shouldn't have reacted but who the hell wouldn't with a knee in the gonads while you're laid on the floor. I thought Ramirez was excellent 1st half by the way.

To be fair, when I saw the heading "Send Gaston Ramirez back", I did wonder if it was UKIP-related.

<This> Ramirez was very good up to him being sent off, stupid thing to do, but harsh, was a yellow at best.

    This basically.

I'm not too pissed about the red card, but the inconsistency today was infuriating. From the first couple of minutes they were hounding the ref in packs of four or five at a time for every little decision he made and he was politely listening to what they had to say. First time Jake has a go at him yellow card. Huddlestone has a go and it's another yellow. How many yellows did we get for dissent in the end? Yet they were one of the worst sides for crowding round him like silly ****s from very early on. And surprise surprise, the team who were allowed to make their case to him got all the little free kicks all game.

It was never a red card in a million years, the more you see it, the more ridiculous a decision it becomes! Thought Ramirez was arguably our best player in the first half, he had more influence on the game than Ben Arfa

I think people should be more concerned about our negative retreat when we are leading and teams are getting on top of us than the Refs.
We seem to throw on more defensive players and it always seems to backfire.
We are also struggling to get into games at times and exert any real pressure.
We don't really have a plan B at the moment

Actually, by the letter of the "rules", such as they are, it was a Red card. Just should have gone the other way.

Vertonghen - yellow card for the knee in Ramirez.

Ramirez - yellow card for the petulant slap on the arse.

Vertonghen - yellow card for diving.

2 yellows = Red for Vertonghen. Cheating twat.

Spot on Kempie. I said at the time it reminded me of Beckham's sending off. Apart from that daft moment I thought he had a really good game.

I thought it was a red card, soft as it was, but what annoyed me was that yesterday Willshere, Tomkins and Miralas were allowed far greater violence without a single red. No consistency.
