He 's just scored two goals in a Euro semi against a massively fancied Germany.

If Rooney had done that you'd be waxing lyrical, ****ing or both.

Balotelli isn't talked of as world class, yet, but he's done more in this game than Rooney ever has or ever will on the world stage, yet people call him world class.

    Which in itself is ridiculous.

If you want to talk about reputations being massively blown out of proportion I suggest you look closer to home.

I agree to be honest. I've defended Rooney for a long time but I can't see a way to defend him after coming in for two games supposedly fully fit, only to do nothing and hardly run at all.

But I wasn't comparing him to Balotelli. Rooney might well be over-rated as well but I think Balotelli is just as over-rated. People have pointed out that when Portugal play the commentators think it's just Ronaldo playing and it's the same with Italy and Balotelli. Before we played them there was more talk about Balotelli in the media than there was about any England player, it was ridiculous. Some media sourves seem to think that because he does crazy stuff off the pitch he must be an amazing talent, but from what I've seen he just isn't that good. He scored two decent goals today, but he's also had four anonymous games, particularly against Spain and England where he just looked like a mad man who'd nicked an Italy shirt.

Premiership you talk a lot of **** about Balotelli the last few weeks he's a great player. Better to man-up and admit you were wrong. I got it wrong about the Germans being invincible and hold my hands up, you should do the same kid!

To add to that they (the BBC) had Vialli, Klinsmann, Lineker, and Shearer all in awe at him at half-time, four of the greatest strikers who have ever played the game.

Christ you need to read my posts a bit. I never said he was ****, I said he was over-rated and I still think he is. People are ****ing about one decent goal, after 4 games where he did nothing. He was worse than soem of our attackers in the England game. You yourself have twice compared him to Cantona which as it stand is just silly.

He might be a great player one day but today's second goal was literally the second good thing I've ever seen him do, he wouldn't even be famous if it wasn't for the fact he lets fireworks off in his bathroom and cant put a bib on.

I appreciate you wasn't comparing him to Rooney, I just used him as an example of how a players reputation can be blown out of proportion.

As for the commentators tonight, it was more of a Pirlo ****fest than a Balotelli one.

Saying that Pirlo has been truly world class, IMO.

Makes me wonder why someone like Phil Jones wasn't played with the sole intent of doing a man to man marking job.

Not that I rate Jones that highly but he's the type who , if instructed, could have done a number on Pirlo.
If England had stifled Pirlo properly it would have been a different game altogether when we played them.

It's not silly at all Premier to compare him to Cantona, I don't know how old you are but am guessing quite young, when you get to my clapped out middle-aged state you get to recognise when somebody is a great player

He's won them that match with his finishing has Balotelli, Rooney has done jack all in a finals and never will do. Great comment mate, Shrek just an overpaid flat-track Premiership bully

Like I posted earlier in the week; Rooney will stick four past Wigan in November and all the silly bastard commentators will be licking his and Ferguson's arses saying how great he is.

I used the exact same phrase. Flat track bully.

I never want to see the term 'world class' and the name Wayne Rooney in the same sentence ever again, and I do mean ever.

The thing that got me most about Rooney is that you would have thought he would be fresh but in some ways he looked like he'd been playing in all the previous games flat-out, I actually feel sorry for Carroll being dropped and that says it all, at least he was putting himself about a bit. I think Rooney passed the baton onto Gomez tonight, you wouldn't have even known that he was in the game until the sub came on in the second half. At least Gomez managed to score some goals though to give him some credit. It's a funny old game.

Ive said it for years that he isnt worl, doh ....genuinley that baromoter of talent.....and have been mercillously mocked on here despite him going two years without scoring a competitive goal for England when playing in every game and countless other stats that if Hesley held would be front page. It really is amazing how Im always right.

The tongue was firmly in cheek there in case anyone missed it.

A big problem for our players is the PR farce needed by the Premier League. It results in referees openly admitting that they protect star players. What this means is that these players build that into their game for domestic games, but can't work out why it doesn't work in non-domestic games.

I loathe watching the latins, such as the Italians and the Portugese, where rolling on the floor blubbing is an integral part of the 'game', but that seems to be what the PL suits want. MTFU, we're English FFS. These suits are killing the game with manufactured dross.

How did you feel when Ashley Young did that for the duration of last season and the Euros? Or more historically when Michael Owen put in one of the worst examples ever against Argentina?

Let me guess, they were influenced by dirty, cheating foreigners?

    Guess again. :emoticon-0111-blush

There's a clue in my derision towards the suits at the PL/FA/FL.

But you said 'I loathe watching the latins, such as the Italians and the Portugese, where rolling on the floor blubbing is an integral part of the 'game', but that seems to be what the PL suits want.' You didnt mention anything about Engliush players cheating. Do 'the suits' want that too?

You need to enroll on a basic course in comprehension, unless you can find one that stops you jumping to unfounded conclusions.

Why, what have I got wrong? You highlighted exclusively foreigners 'rolling on the floor blubbing' so I asked how you feel about English people doing precisely that. Actually on reflection you' re right - I really dont comprehend what is wrong with that.

    :cheesy: What a nob head.

I mentioned the latins because they're notorious for it. I mentioned the suits and the refereees because they're effectively encouraging it into the English game. My mentioning the latter it's clear I don't like English or anyone else doing it. I thought that was self explanatory.
