I'm fully ok with players wanting more money. After all, they would want to make as good a living as possible and more money would give them that. However, telling the media that he'd sign a contract for life if he was offered one, was a big mistake and if he were to go to a club in the same league for only a bit more money would upset me. I'd be fine if he went to ANY Championship club (apart from Palace and Millwall), but not league 1.
As soon as he came out with that stuff I expected him to go, it was just like the stuff Parker came out with just before his move to Chelsea. I'm more concerned with finding out what these new midfielders are like, because I don't know.
It's important to see if we actually offered a contract, discussions could still be on-going but the club might be looking elsewhere, just as Jose is doing. As I said before, I think there are better players available. I will always be thankful to Jose for being a bright spark during a very difficult time in our history, but as a midfielder(key point) he is very limited as a footballer. The thing I'm most upset about is- now we won't be able to sign Cristiano Ronaldo when he is 37....
Ronaldo, woahh, Ronaldo woaahh he comes from Portugal, he ****ing hates Millwall. He plays on the left, he plays on the right, that boy Ronaldo, makes Wagstaff look ****e. *wakes up, **** it was just a dream *
If that's not reason to join then I don't know what is Oh well, let's hope Youga persuades his best mate Benzema to join us instead
Well its better than going to palace BUT a strange move...cant fathom it out,its all about money sadly...so for me when we play weds it`ll be BOOOOOOOOO from me.
Wuldn't dream of booing Semedo. I'd be truly devastated if he left, the only player on our books that I'd say that about besdes Elliot.
I think Semedo is a much better footballer than people give him credit for. He passes the ball well (not so much at the end of last season), speads the ball, opens up play and swithces play very well.
I agree. As much as I appreciate his attitude and work ethic and sang his praises (and would continue to do so) as much as the next man, I can't help but think he's holding us back slightly in midfield.
Got to be honest here, I never see Semedo spread or switch the play. Then again, that was never really his job. He is very much a crab in that his passes are [insert high percentage] of the time to the player next to him. Never see him spray a 20 yarder to the opposite flank.
Clearly the only real reason he is so highly regarded (and especially this past season) is because amidst a group of apparent non-triers, he always puts in a shift and gives his 110%. Unfortunately however this is not all that is required to be a good footballer, and in central midfield he seems slightly off the mark. Time and time again it has been said that he slows down play and doesn't do us any real good in the middle, and whilst I'm not wishing him to leave, I do think if he did it'd open the team up and allow us to play more free-flowing football. Play him at centre back and everyone's happy imo.
Not wrong, surrey- If he stays a side of me will be happy, but it has to be in a squad capacity and for consideration in defence. I'm done with Semedo playing in midfield, I want a Hollands or Vincelot to take that holding position as we know they can break play up and then flow forward- bonus that both have also got involved in the goals too!
Itâs funny how two people can see the same player in a totally different way ay J-VFRâ¦? In all the times I've seen Semedo play I've honestly never seen him display any of the above attributes...!! For me, his touch is poor and his range of passing is even worse. He takes too long in possession to make up his mind to carry out his obligatory 5/10 yard sideways or backwards pass. So in a nut shell, when the ball goes through him in the heart of our midfield we loose our forward momentum. Imo his strengths are⦠His desire to win the ball, the fact he loves a tackle, strength, pace and heâs good in the air⦠All attributes that a certain Richard Rufus had. I would love nothing more than for him to be given another year and to be given a run in the team at Centre Back, as I genuinely think heâll make a terrific defender for us. Semedo Central Midfielder = NO THANKS Semedo Centre Back = YES PLEASE
Agreed Franco, for me his natural instincts are very much defensive and his vision for forward play comes up short. A squad role I also agree with. Hope we can keep him as most of the time he performs with commitment.
Regardless of his abilities in midfield, or whether he'd be better suited to a squad role/playing in defence, I'll be absolutely gutted to see him go
