Same here, miss all the 12.30 ko, hate modern day tippy tappy football, but i'll be keeping mine.................for this coming season.
The kick off times this season have been a plague. The performances and results will be what they will be, but if your post-match drinking routines are scuppered by about half or more of the fixtures all season it ruins it. A crazy amount last year for the second tier, and that for me more than anything made it flat.
Most sensible post I've read in weeks. I wanted stability, but i can see why the owner has made this call. We were bloody awful after the international break and were very lucky to survive. But he needs to get this right as we are running out of lives. It's looking like another churn of players is coming our way. The Premier league loans seem to be the way to go ,but that will mean waiting while after the season has started again. It can't be an easy task
Not a complicated one. Far as City’s contracts go (and most clubs these days) the settlement is paid wages until they’re in a new job. Makes sackings like Ruben’s fairly cheap and ones like Tim’s costly.
When you come in to a new job and it's a basket case you look at what is possible as soon as possible. Selles thought the team was leaking goals, not creating many chances and not scoring goals. He thought the easiest problem to solve was the defence. This would also take less time and he thought we had the personnel to an acceptable level. Midfield and attack would need further recruitment. While improving the defence and doing what he could with midfield and attack he was acquiring a better understanding of the players and what he could do with them. When you come into a new job you form opinions pretty quickly. Sometimes you are right and sometimes they need to be modified. After survival has been achieved - just - Selles would have a body of knowledge and plans to put into effect. Instead of moving forward with the manager Acun has decided he didnt like what he saw. I am sure Selles thought the same but at least he would have ideas how to fix it. Now we start again.
Well been at work all day and seen this as I arrive home and able to comment. I'd previously said that it was madness to even consider sacking a bloke who was hired to get us out of the sh1t, and despite him trying to polish the turd of a squad that we had left after injuries managed to do just that. What more does our head honcho want ? He delivered, wasn't pretty but necessary. So yet again we have an up and coming manager consigned to the rubbish heap because he didn't have them doing fkn somersaults and performing like Maradonna ! Shocking decision if this comes to pass and I have to be honest, if I was a manager I wouldn't come within 100 miles.of this clown and this circus. Acun make up ya fkn mind what ya want and give them fkn time, I'm sick of this constant changing and shuffling the deck, we need stability, build a team and a squad with a trusted manager ffs, and step the fk back.
Wasnt Potter getting paid his wages after his sacking at Chelsea and when he was thinking of getting back into football he asked them to offer him a pay-off in lieu of wages?
I don’t really get the various versions of ‘If Acun doesn’t get it right this time he’ll run out of lives / have to go’ etc etc. He can’t do what he likes just because he owns a club, as we thankfully showed with the Allams name change ****, but he can certainly hire and fire managers when he wants without it being much of anyone else’s business. I’d have kept Selles (and of course maybe he still will…) as I’d have preferred stability and letting him build. I think it’s the wrong decision (at the moment…results will determine whether it was or not) but it’s not exactly earth shattering enough to get all angsty about it.
We weren't though were we. A year and a few days since his first great decision of sacking Rosenior and look where we are. Some people still think that was a great decision too so anything I read here or elsewhere does not surprise me at all about certain fans opinions.
It was the FA that showed him, not us. He can hire and fire managers at his discretion but it is very much our business.
yes but by definition…they are “removed from position” / gardening leave, not sacked If they were truly sacked in the legal sense they would not continue to be paid
