The Brentford / Bournemouth model suggests 'history and crowd size' are no longer necessary as prerequisites for successful football clubs, especially with the finances the premiership / TV money gives
Blows the we (the royal we not we hull city) need a bigger stadium to get more income out the water. Not saying a bigger stadium won't bring in more money or that it wouldn't be welcome.
I've just seen that Baz put out another "big decision to make" article today. It's strange that it's going on so long and it's strange that Baz and Mike White seem to be being briefed from somewhere that it is a possibility he'll be sacked. The Rosenior one came totally out of the blue. I wonder, is Acun deliberately testing the water for reactions?
Wrong. I said Acun hasn't lost interest, that he hasn't run out of money and that we weren't being sold. I never said whether the rumours about Selles were true or not. But shared something I've heard about him allegedly being sacked.
I want to think that its just the media gaining clicks during what should have been a very quiet time. The suns shining and a lot of folk probably would have disappeared for a bit, but here we are waiting for news. However, the longer it goes on the more I think theres a chance he could go as I just can't see why it wouldn't have been nipped in the bud already.
The issue is for smaller clubs is the door is shutting due to FFP/PSR regulations and the every lasting desire to be self sufficient. You only have to look at Wrexham and Birmingham coming up. They’re going to have way more spending power than us and 2/3rds of the championship because of their income revenues. Brentford and Bournemouth if they were in our position now would likely struggle because of their fanbase sizes and the prohibiters that puts in place when it comes to managing FFP. The only way around it is through player sales and reinvesting. We’ve done that after Greaves and Jaden leaving and we have to hope that it pays dividends with players like Hughes and Belloumi either pushing us up the league or being the next sizeable asset to sell and reinvest. Life without parachute payments is going to get continually more difficult unless you invest now in ways of making more money outside of players sales. And I would argue we are criminally behind due to previous ownerships
