I think all of us would have enjoyed Selles football more if he'd been able to call on Belloumi, Millar, Matazo and Barry - the damage caused to our season by those four ACL's can't be underestimated, talk of a replacement now is plain crazy.
I don't think defending the signing of Sinik would be a hill I'd choose to die on but each to their own
Five caps for Turkey (his sixth was won while at City), hardly a hopeless case. He made a lot of appearances and scored a few goals - as you would expected from a promising young wide man. he has proved a terrible signing. But his numbers prior to joining City don’t suggest that at all.
If I told this forum there’s a rumour we are signing Darren Cynic from Stockport tomorrow for £4m and he’s got 140 appearances and 6 goals I would wager anything that it would be laughed out the door.
I would question why a person with 140 appearances and 6 goals from an attacking position is getting caps for their national team
What with our flirting with relegation, I think we have had enough suspense, jeopardy and cliff hanger endings for a ****ing lifetime, give it a rest Acun.
Yeah, that’s actually pretty damning. If he didn’t have the players to set up how he likes, he should have set them up a different way that suited what he’s got. That’s what a good manager would have done. Exactly like Steve Bruce did for us.
What, like decent defence, **** attack so play to your strengths, keep it tight and hope you nick one?
Since Selles came into the club, we have the 4th best defensive record in the Championship. Behind only Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United on goals conceded. All those criticising any of the defence, that is not the problem.
I'm hoping the speculation over Ruben Selles is overblown and that our owner will see sense, but the thing which seems daftest of all is that I'm sure when he appointed Ruben, he said something about he could have made a safer choice such as Alex Neil but that Selles had greater potential. In other words, the risk around Selles was primarily in the short term - would he have enough experience to manage a relegation battle? He's managed that, despite numerous injury setbacks and without a Championship level goalscorer, and done so in a very calm manner. Surely next season is when the owner could expect to see the potential he has invested in start to get unlocked?
Which was absolutely nothing at all to do with all our marquee attacking/creative players we brought in getting long term injuries and **** recruitment up top was it? It was so much better under Walter...
Has anyone actually said it's a "Selles review"? Every club will have an end of season review. Why would we be any different. Honestly, it's embarrassing some of the stuff posted on here.
Acun doesn't want a proven head coach, he wants a yes man who he thinks is malleable. Stop posting ****e then.
Are you seriously making a comparison of a (made up) player from Stockport versus someone who has 6 senior caps for Turkey and has played 140 games in their SL? Really?
