Changes are happening already behind the scenes now we know which league we're in. Mostly in the scouting/recruitment area so far..... Value for money is the key moving forward.
Sometimes owner backing the manager = the manager is about to get sacked! That said, TWS put an end to the speculation over Farke the other day, but it took them about a week to do it!
Very little surprises me in football these days but if anyone tries to convince me the reason Hull City narrowly escaped relegation was solely because of the appointment of Ruben Selles they know as much about British football as our f’kin owner. UTT.
I really don't think we can make too much of a judgement on Kyle Joseph at this stage. When I think back to what I've seen of him, I can barely remember him having the ball. I couldn't say with any confidence anything about his touch or ability on the ball. It's been the same with Pedro in recent months; most of what I think about his game is from things I saw him do months ago. I would say this is because of our team-wide struggles going forward, that our attacking players just don't see very much of the ball at all. That is obviously the priority to fix this summer and I think it's plausible at this stage that Joseph can continue to be involved as we do that. If we want more value for money, which of course we should, then looking after our signings and giving them time is part of that. We have burned through way too many players already by giving up on them soon after they arrive.
We create sod all - any striker would have struggled in our team in the season just gone. It's not as if Joseph missed chance after chance every week - he barely had any
I agree that the service has been woeful. But contrast and compare Joseph and Pedro when they have been on the ball. Admittedly not as much as we'd like, but we have seen them both with the ball enough times now. Pedro has real quality. Sorry but Joseph has been mostly awful when he has had the ball (a couple of decent balls across the box aside). Good to hear there's going to be more focus on 'value for money' because it's mostly been appalling, and the money spent on Joseph epitomises that; Acun must be fuming (hence my question about who's signing he actually was - Selles? Dublin? or ? ... certainly not Acun's )
russell martin had already left swansea when our new head of recruitment joined them, just incase that link might be questioned
Good. Needed. Acun must be so frustrated / fuming yet again with the money that's been largely spunked.
I'll be a bit annoyed if this turns out to be the local media sensationalising the idea of a behind the scenes season review. Selles should have been able to enjoy the weekend having successfully achieved the target but I'm sure he's well aware of all the murmurings in the background.
The more I think about this, the more splinters I get in my arse from sitting on the fence .... I can see arguments for both sticking and twisting and neither convince me either way. I think it all boils down to who the replacement would be and also if acun has serious doubts over selles ( either rightly or wrongly) then is it ever going to work or would keeping he just delay the inevitable to further down the line. I really haven't enjoyed selles football ( so far ) but he's done the job he needed to do which was stay up and it doesn't matter if it's on GD or by 10pts. The results of relegation were catastrophic and with him doing what was needed he deserves a chance to kick on for me.
Fuming and embarrassed is the feeling I get.... Hopefully the unrest and hatred towards him at fenners pushes his attention back to us
