I've got a 'friend' out here who's a big Man City fan, been supporting them 45 years. I was talking to him a few weeks ago about his club pricing all the loyal working class fans out of the club and replacing them with 'Chelsea fans'. He said that they're not like Man U. I disagree because in a few years they'll be worse than Man U.

So, the question is......if we got bought out by Mr Shake A Leg (Ok it's a dream/hypothetical) would you take major success and have the club diluted into just 'another' club?

I wouldn't. I want the impossible - major success and no change to the club.
 
Showoff, as much as I'd like the investment I just don't see it happening due to lots of reasons, crowd size, revenue, reputation etc................

I'd rather us stay as we are now than lose all identity with the surrounding working class people and the local area.

I'm not a dinosaur, more of a traditionalist <cheers>
 
I know a lot of Chelski fans who are resigned to following the Blues on Sky due to being priced out.
These are guys who have been supporters during the lows who now cannot enjoy the thrill of the good times at first hand.

Lets keep it real at The Den, feel the passion.Quite happy being a thorn in the side, enjoying our little victories
I would dread ending up like Chelski or Man City, having BLKS for singing FFS!
 
The way I see it is the supporters of these mega bucks clubs would give their hind teeth to be like us.

could i wear a Man U. a Man C. or a Chelsea shirt with the same amount of pride or passion ?

Sorry to upset you guys,but you've already sold out but on a smaller scale.Without JB's money the last few years,you would probably be in league 2 ground sharing with Charlton.
Where do you draw the line,who out of you would turn down say £20 million if JB could dig deep.
No one ?. well what about 50 mill or 300 mill.you've just become man city.
 
I'm with showoff on this one. Its why i'm enjoying this season so much,real fans,atmosphere and we win more games than lose<whistle>

Before this season,i hadn't been to Upton Park since the cup game v Wall in 2009.
 
I remember someone on here a while back asking 'would we like to be a mid-table club in the Prem knowing that the likelyhood of knocking the big three off their perch was remote, and being resigned to a future of where will we finish this year below them'. He was right when he said he would rather be a Millwall supporter with all the highs and lows of emmotions and thrills of winning, and in some cases losing. He was right on the money. Our club is more than a business, its a family and so it should stay. Would we like an extra couple of mill to spend on players? Of course, but as long as we don't lose our identity!

If the regeneration of the area around the Den goes ahead and looks like the proposals, we then become a way more attractive investment opportunity to this kinda thing, not that I would like to see it happen, but the chances are that we could possibly see a Leicester type investment in our club.
 
Well I want to see us get promoted and be as competitive as possible in the Prem. Only if the price of tickets went up resulting in the regular faces at the Den no longer being able to go would I have a problem. I would still follow the team if I was priced out but ultimately if a team becomes successful the owners tend to put up the prices.

I'm sure there are a couple of Prem teams that are reasonably priced so no need to worry about the inevitable rise of wall after the regeneration kicks in ;)
