I've heard that, but most Germans I've met are actually quite funny people. Maybe it's one of those myths, I don't know.
I heard a german tell a joke about something pretaining to ships and he couldn.t sail it or something like that because it was forboaten .. actually a good joke ruined by the time he finished the punch line ....no timing, every word said in the same tone and speed . I was the only one laughing , and it wasn't at the joke
Actually, Kiff, I would agree. I was CFO of a couple of (different) Groups which had subsidiaries in Germany. In the main very affable, nice people. There was one subsidiary, however, in North-Rhine Westphalia where the stereotype fitted exactly.
Huw Cooze steps down as director of the Supporters Trust for making 38 thousand pounds . Huw Jenkins steps around proudly after making 7 million pounds .....
Henning Wehn is a good comic. He's been living in London for many years, and talks like a cockney, innit.
I worked for a U.K. based German Company for nearly 20 years, and I agree, most Germans I encountered were able to share a joke, especially when it was aimed against them. I visited Germany many times and was always treated with extreme kindness, and their hospitality is second to none.. I was fortunate to have had three German girlfriends, not at the same time. all of whom I met in Swansea, where they were in Language Schools, brushing up on their already perfect English. I filled in the gaps. Germany is a beautiful country, and the food, wines and beers are to die for.
So am I. I never got to Berlin. Most of my time was spent in Mannheim, which is twinned with Swansea: Mainz: The Hunsruck area, and Heidelberg, dodging Japanese tourists.
Thats his yearly wages roof ....I dont blame him one bit as the club made him look a mug at times...His wages has been poor over the decade and £38k is not much when you concider the rest of the board members were taking millions every year....Cooze is a good man a passionate man that work his socks off for the trust....
My sister lives in Germany, Saxony in a small village surrounded by pine forests. It is in the old East Germany. The people are the friendliest most welcoming I have ever come across. I don't know whether it was because years ago thy didn't have a lot, but they would give you their last penny. I agree on the food and the beer, outstanding.
Lucky girl. It sounds such a nice place to live. I assume you invite yourself on a regular basis, just to confirm that the food and beer are still up to scratch. German cheesecake, is to die for.
Anyone else notice that every time a new American walks through the door , they praise Jenkins to the hilt ...then walk right over him . And you wonder why Huw never stood up to applaud Bradley's first game at Liberty .
Germany is okay, Bavaria better, but the cream is Austria, travelled all over Germany and Austria in the 80's and 90's, but Austria is my favourite by a country mile, have friends in Klaffer, it's near the Czech border, agree on the food and beer though, top notch!.......................
Huw shouldn't even be at the Club anymore. We are now an American owned Club with Americans being placed in the Clubs key roles. As owners, it's their prerogative to do so. Huw is only there for the sake of continuity, but due to the fans attitude towards him since the sale it seems better for everyone that he is pushed to the sidelines as quickly as possible.
