The unquestioning public are, the people pulling the strings are not. A very synchronised and well oiled strategy. Give the publlic fear, cause a "problem", identify the "problem", solve the "problem". Continue this cycle and no one will question. Think of this. We all know Al Qaeda doesn't exist in its media propogated form and is merely a semi-autonomous CIA unit creatted to help with the Afghan resistance to Soviet occupation. Despite the intenrment of thousands of "terrorists", how come no one has been proved of membership of al qaeda (the less than unambiguous "links to al qaeda" being the buzz term they use here), the only certain "members" are dead ones who cannot protest. (Bin Laden silenced as his testimony in a court would be very dangerous, numerous drone strikes to take out "leaders" we are supposed to take their word on this one)
They do have a majority in the House and the President can do very little without their approval. Obama wouldn't be the cleverest either though.
The people pulling the strings are not in the public eye. The people with the power are the people behind the scenes lobbying (bribing, threatening, blackmailing and other methods) the senators to their will. These people can make or break political careers. They coontrol the flow of money to these politician's campaigns, they control the information we read about these politicians. The lobbyists for the most part are wealthy and influential people with their own agendas. THe biggest and most influential is the pro Israeli lobby which surpasses all else and is clearly reflected in foreign policy. Indeed it is so influential it has the nickname "The lobby". When they talk of "The Lobby" everyone else knows what it is
Jesus Christ guys, watch what you're saying, the CIA have thousands of puppets who spend all day trawling the internet, searching for anyone who says a bad word about the good ole US of A, they also have some mighty fine drone bombers and know where you live
