Entirely agree, Hammersmith. I'd like to think this is a board full of different views where generally people don't get abused.

Brix's note is not aimed at anyone in particular. It's a general reminder to us all.

We can all get a bit hot under the collar at times, but reasoned argument will always triumph over bad mouthing, and fortunately we have a lot of good reasoned argument on here. We can never have too much...

I mean no disrespect to Cerny when I say that the vast majority of ITK's are not much better than tabloid horoscopes, as Brix said. Treat them like that, and you get a nice surprise if one is right, and in the meantime you don't need to handbag anyone (as per the missus)

I'm a regular viewer on here, logging on most days but don't post very often. I'm sad to see some top posters and great characters leave because having read lots of their posts/comments you kinda feel like you know them! Of course you get the odd WUM and ITK's but that all adds to the entertainment of this excellent board. Please lets not get boring! Lets keep it fun, informative and entertaining and hopefully no more of the regular posters will leave and maybe even some that have left will return!

Think we'd all agree with Hammer on that Oz.

S'pose what people have been asking is that we debate, discuss, explain, tease and basically interact with each other in all the ways we always have BUT just take it easy, that's all. Have a bit of respect for the other guy and don't scream at him because he sees things differently from you. The board's as much about our communal entertainment as anything else. If we achieve that, we'll make a good thing great!

As for the players, ex players, managers and ex managers... it comes down to the self moderation we're asking for.

My personal view is that I can say what I like about them provided my purpose is to express my valid opinion and not to deliberately provoke others into another boring slanging match. Like most if not all of us, I've opined about everyone from the Goons to our darlin' Faulin and survived! Often reminded I called him a bit of a donkey once much to the disdain of passionate Faulinites but explained my reasoning and all taken in good heart. So it can be done!

Compliment accepted Beth - but I'm certainly entirely questionable - and more so now as a proud new member of the Rangers sisterhood! Got to say, you're fast becoming a personality on here.

I came over from the old BBC site where there was definitely a hardy WUM posting under the handle of 'A Boy in the Bush' whose soul aim was to goad and provoke. I don't think we have the like of ABITB here, but the reactions of others to genuine posts recently have been similar in their voracity.

I miss the likes of Walk53 who was genuinely passionate and hugely posiitve about all matters QPR. Similarly young contributors such as QPRMadLisa who gave another view from a totally different demographic than usually frequent these types of forums.

For me the golden rule is avoid any personal insults. After all, why get steamed up about a faceless character behind a keyboard. My observation here is that a humour bypass is evident at times, coupled with a tendency for intolerance and a yearning desire to prove greater knowledge or attachment to QPR.

I think some contributors here fail to identify the subtle humour of the likes of CernyBerny. The irony here is that he probably doesn't give a flying fig whether the knowledge he has materialises, but he sure knows that others will hang on his every word.

I get this impression that others see it as their duty to denigrate these posts as some kind of surrogate protection for the rest of us - a 'guys don't fall for this' approach. To then run down those who agree or just keep an open mind is ignorant, so I can fully understand why some want to leave.

These characters remind me of that guy who sits on his own at the end if the bar who is always right. Says what he likes and likes what he says. I'd have a drink elsewhere if this fellow keeps butting in, putting me right and 'helping me out' - thinking that I cannot work it out for myself.

There needs to be an acceptance that we've all got an opinion and at times these will differ. This is the beauty of these forums. I worked with a guy who used to say 'first seek to understand before you judge' - it's a great thought to consider before dismissing another contributed as 'a tool'!

Not much to ask for; a little bit more consideration and tolerance; peppered with a some subtle humour - the perfect recipe for appetising debate.

Thanks Beth, no need to be sorry 'bout the job situation. Been something I've considered for quite some time and completely of my own choice, need a new direction so will take my time to figure it out. I'm a better man for it but thanks for caring. And Oslo I'm enjoying it, for the time being that is... :)

Fareham_Hoop and sku1974 I echo you're posts. Some very sensible advices there and I couldn't agree more <ok>

He was absolutely hilarious. Loved reading his posts.

Shame Brix needed to bring this up but necessary. We all want a good board to debate on and god knows it can get a little over the top. Please keep up the good work guys.

But I'm immoderate, manic and discontented. Where do I go? I've already banned myself off the Chelsea board. <laugh>
