Hello Crosshill, sadly "Politcal Correctness" has "Eroded" the once famed British dark humour. So, where should we be as a club? fwiw Ithink 10th-14th.
Wrong thread mate, this one might be more up your street: https://www.not606.com/threads/portsmouth-fc.367952/
If Hoffenheim can make it to the CL, why can´t Southampton. We must never be satisfied with mediocrity.
Different league. It is why for all the talk of La Liga being **** because it is "only a 2 team league" it is still miles better than the Prem as the other 2 CL spots change pretty regularly. Well did until Atletico pulled away but the 4th spot now is up for grabs between a handful of teams. Bundesliga is the same at the moment. RBL could change that though and mean Bayern and RBL are the main stays in the top 2
At the moment Sevilla are top of La Liga, although one would suspect one of Barca, Real or Atlético to emerge as the eventual champions. Moving across to Italy, they is a massive void at the moment with AC Milan being a shadow of themselves. Pity, because I always loved that club ripping Manchester United apart on a regular basis. In the Bundesliga, it is Bayern + the flavours of the moment like Hoffenheim. What a huge club like SV Hamburg are doing in the second tier, I don´t know. Maybe they are the Villa of the German game.
Yeah, bollocks to that. Sounds like the sort of nonsense slogan I was subjected to every day at work for 20 years; actually for most British businesses, and football teams, mediocrity looks like an aspiration
Yes you can. Two very different set ups. Saints under Cortese/Liebherr, M was like a really big night out. Koeman’s success (I don’t think he’s a great manager at all) was like waking up and you’re still pissed and a bit hysterical. Puel was the beginning of the hangover, and Pellegrino/Hughes was the guilt and remorse kicking in. Reed benefitted massively from the structure that Cortese put in place, but between him, Krueger, Liebherr K, and Gao, they have steadily and systematically pulled apart all the good work that was put in place until we found ourselves as the directionless and personality less club we are now. So yes, absolutely I can blame him and his cronies for where we are now without giving him credit for what has come before.
Hey! One of the options is “relegation fodder” I’m not taking the wrap if we go down, thank you very much!!
I don’t know what our identity is but it would be good if we could stop having gap years whilst we find ourselves.
Isn't the simple answer that we're always likely to be a bit **** but we're the mighty Saints so wouldn't change it for the world?
If you want the test of a big club, go to a foreign country and ask 100 people to name as many English football clubs as they can. (You can also send the result to Pointless.)
