Obviously your prerogative and it wouldn't surprise me to find myself in the minority. I guess it's precisely for the reason you've given for liking the play-offs that I dislike 'em. A league season should be all about the long haul, playing each team twice, home and away. We used to say that 'the league table doesn't lie', but the play-offs has rendered that obsolete. If QPR achieve promotion via the play-offs this season, however, I shall hypocritically rejoice with you and care not a jot for Derby if they've finished third.
Play offs would be ok so long as the same exists for relegation. It doesn't and I'm against them. As Uber says it's about performance over a season and anyways Wigan are looking like very bad news right now.
