That sort of clause would make more sense from the clubs point of view.

I'm smiling at your feeble mindedness. Many a player has been sold to a club he has no real interest in playing for. The player either goes where he is told, or he spends the rest of his contract in the reserves, until it runs down and at that point, no-one is interested.

But you keep spouting about things you don't understand, I like to smile.

Thats what I'm getting at.Its going to cost United more than they thought.
They have budgetted for Phil Jones, they have budgetted for a keeper and they have budgetted for Ashley Young and they have budgetted for a central midfielder. However if they have to pay more for the first one, then the budget for the last one(Which is the midfielder) gets smaller. Thus reducing the standard of the player they can and thats if they can go for.
Now United need a midfielder as much as they need a keeper. What Kenny has done by messing this up,has possibly ensured they don't get that midfielder which means...advantage Liverpool.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blackburn don't give a flying **** about image rights, or the length of the player's contract, they are all things to interest the player, the club want cash, hard cash, up front hard cash.

Think utd will still get the players they want this season as they have to, but the higher than expected costs will hurt long term.

Fergie has spoken to Phil Jones' mum and dad and convinced them that United is the best place for him. Who is to dispute that? Manchester United consistently buy centre backs for cheap (barring Rio) and make them into class players (ala Vidic.)

If Blackburn have accepted United's bid, which they have to when they include a release clause of £16.5m then the power is then in the player's hands. Liverpool offered the same amount originally but Phil turned them down as he'd rather go to a club where he'd develop as a player and win titles. Now he's had a medical and agreed terms with United, Liverpools bid of £22m is not only ******ed but it means absolutely nothing. Phil has agreed to go to United in all but signed the papers, he's hardly going to change his mind now is he? The bid has been accepted by Blackburn so they can't unnaccept it because they want more money as it is too late.

The only thing which is happening from this, is to get a few Liverpool fans hopes up. He will go to United and it will be for the original sum of £16.5m.

Again KPR you state it is certain United won't get him for 16.5 million whilst earlier telling people not to post on speculation.

As stated by Noblex it depends on the fine detail of the contract which we don't know.

However Noblex, if it is a minimum release clause then lackburn can't void the bid as there is a contract in place to stop this from happening. The blow comment you made does however make alot of sense.

As you see there is plenty we can all speculate on but we will not know anything definite until the deal is done, but if it was all so simple and clear cut you have to ask why has the deal not been done by now.

I said all along Kenny is intent on destroying Ferguson and United,He's already started, the good thing is...He's not realised it yet. He's weakened their chances of solving their position of weakness which they were clearly exposed in the CL final. They have deals in principle and this is from reports for De Gea and Young, which they now must honour. However their chances of getting that much needed midfielder is going to decrease big time.Maybe Kenny can make Aston Villa think again by slapping in a £24 million bid(which can still be done) for Ashley Young. That will really mess up Uniteds chances of a midfielder. However I reckon its already messed up.

I was trying to explain in simple terms (they have to be for united19red) how even if jones does somehow move for £16.5M as he claims, utd would still have to shell out more because of LFC and Arsenals interest

classic example of adding up 2 + 2 and getting 12,487.

do you honestly believe dalglish has meticulously planned to scupper uniteds entire rebuilding process by bidding an extra few million on a defender?

you're a bigger **** than i thought you were. we're really going to throw the towel in bringing in a top class midfielder because we might have to pay an extra couple of million on jones <doh>

Comparing the sale of a house with no third party involved to the sale of a player between clubs... another legal genius.

The United fans are right about the contract.
However they are forgetting something and this is what Blackburn know they can exploit.A contract has two parts.''Conditions'' and ''warranties''.
The ''conditions'' have to be met by both parties. However the ''warranties'' is the small print that nobody except Blackburn know about. This is the reason why I'm 100% sure that Man United will end up paying more than they thought for Phil Jones. Thus wrecking their chances of getting that much needed central midfielder.
Regarding house sales, there is a third party involved if you knew what ''contracts'' were, its called an estate agent. However only two parties who have financial interest in the contract can be party to that contract, which means the agent must leave the contract due to ratification. He ratifies it with the principal(The seller) and the ''third party(the buyer) and then he gets his commission.

    £2 or £3 million.
It could be more than that,it could be in the region of £5-£6 million. It will scupper the midfielder you need, seeing as Aston Villa are also playing hardball over the Ashley Young fee.Fergie thought he could nail him for £15 million....Aston Villa want £20 million.
