Were you the dude who came over to me claiming to "run Polzeath" and started talking "black", then offered me a bag of weed for no reason Strange lot down there.
And now you'r having a civil conversation with PISKIE? Bloody hell now I have to become Jayram's best friend
I am Hothead. In fact I was stupid enough to post it a couple of weeks ago and was predictably shouted down by the wrist-slitters, but I genuinely believe we can compete next season. Pod adds some class and experience, Jack will feel like a new player, I still think RVP will be there (whether he signs or not) and given better luck with injuries to our full-backs we could manage to avoid playing players out of position. M'Vila would be nice if it happens, not sure we need much more....
I am actually hopeful for next season - there are some encouraging moves by the club (some have not yet come to fruition but the signs are there). Pod was signed early, and we seem to want to offload the players we have all clearly seen are not good enough. If we sign a couple more players, and do indeed get rid of the rubbish, plus keep RVP, hope may turn to optimisim. As it stands, I think we are at a cross roads. Its up to the board and Wenger now to show some ambition. They have to stop pretending CL qualification and no trophies is good enough. We should be aiming to win the league and/or CL.
My hope is that the club actually do the things I have been saying for years now that they should. If they do I will optimistic.
Mr Wenger told me that he'd read everything that Jayram had posted on not606 and after much consideration he felt that Peter Hill Wood was the lesser of two evils
I get the impression that Mr Wenger preferred Mr Hill-Wood because if Jayram were in charge, he probably would have been fired a while ago.
Yes, but on the counter, you have to like the success Mr. Wenger brought us too. I'm not Wengers biggest fan, but he deserves a lot of praise for what the club has become.
He was fantastic in the first half of his career, and no one will ever be able to take away his 3 titles, 4 FA Cups, and of course the Invincibles. He had a lot of credit in the bank after that, but thats run out now.
I'm also looking forward to our next season. As long as we don't repeat our last transfer debacle with RVP, then we should have a good start. However, we realistically cannot challenge next season. Unless we up the standard of our squad this summer transfer window and the new players hit the ground running, we simply aren't good enough to sustain a consistent challenge for the title. The three top teams of Man City, Man U amd Chelsea will all get better next season and Spurs may well do better next season too. To win, we drastically need a change of attitude, consistency and overall quality, that our current squad has failed to show for a number of seasons.
I think we can add him taking us to the final of UCL in 2006, though we didn't win it, it was still a grand effort, and if you put it all together with the previous seasons, from 02-06, it does look good, winning titles, doubles, etc, and then almost to the promised land by reaching the final of Europe, a major achievement when put all together. Sadly since then our record has looked quite ****, only 2 finals, both in the carling cup, one semi final in Europe, where we got thrashed by Manu in both games (first leg could have ended 8-0), and one semi final with Chelsea where we put one of the most pitiful performances, which was then followed by that thrashing to United in the semis of Europe, definitely a time to forgot.
