Day 7... So now we have had the first week of the Championships in which we have had a few upsets, a few tantrums, some big breaks and shocking results...!!! The matches are now a best of 25, and a possibility of 3 sessions, and where the better players can relax into there rhythm more. Robbo's destructive playing yesterday was simply awesome and proves that the top players in this tournament all know its up for grabs... It only makes for another great week of snooker action... 10.00... Robertson v Gilbert... 2nd session... (5-3) Higgins to beat Hendry... 13-9... 2.30... Maguire v Perry... 2nd session... (5-3) Day to beat Yupeng... 13-7... 7.00... Robertson v Gilbert... to a finish, final session... Higgins v Hendry... 2nd session...
Day 8... Whoever wins this years Championships will have met a player that is either woefully out of form or is having a blast from the past performance... Stephen Hendry isnt exactly potting everything off the chandeliers but is doing enough to be well in front of last years World Champion. John Higgins just hasnt turned up and looks like he is using the wrong end of his cue. I dont think ive seen him miss so many pots that he would normally pot with his eyes shut... oh hang on maybe thats what he is doing... Neil Robertson looks the real deal but even he is stuttering for a couple of frames at a time and some credit must be given to David Gilbert who put up a great fight in the end... But today we have another battle of the ex-World Champions, Ronnie O'Sullivan v Mark Williams. When you make a prediction in any sport you always imagine that both turn up or at least play to there maximum potential. Well that certainly hasnt happened with the earlier match up of ex-champs but it may do here... Should be a good battle... 10.00... Maguire v Perry... to a finish... (11-5) Yupeng v Day... 2nd session... (2-6) 2.30... Hendry v Higgins... to a finish... (12-4) O'Sullivan to beat Williams... 13-9... 7.00... Trump to beat Carter... 13-11 Yupeng v Day... to a finish...
Day 9...Unlucky to those who had tickets for the afternoon session of Higgins v Hendry... Just your one frame to watch... And trust me even when they bring the screen up so you can see across to the other table it seems miles away...!!! Anyway, we are now getting into the heart of the tournament and with 4 quarter finalists sorted out we have a all Scottish pairing in one of them. Magurie and Hendry completed easy wins and will now face each other for a semi final place... Could Hendry actually go on to win this years World Championships...??? We shall wait and see... 10.00... Higginson to beat Jones... 13-11... Stevens to beat Hawkins... 13-10... 2.30... Carter v Trump... 2nd session... (5-3) Williams v O'Sullivan... 2nd session... (3-5) 7.00... Jones v Higginson... 2nd session... Stevens v Hawkins... 2nd session...
Day 10... If you are trying to predict the way most of these match ups are going to go you would be in for a lot of headaches and a lot of egg on your face... Williams v O'Sullivan was always going to close wasnt it...? Carter would always have trouble keeping Trump at arms length and playing at Sheffield for the first time is a nerve racking experience Mr. Jones... But it seems that the form book and rankings are out of the window this year and its brought up some good and interesting results... Long may it continue... 1.00... Stevens v Hawkins... to a finish... (8-8) Carter v Trump... to a finish... (7-9) 7.00... Jones v Higginson... to a finish... (10-6) Williams v O'Sullivan... to a finish... (5-11)
Funny ol' tournament to date, see Trump was on the 147 and ran out of position earlier and he's on one hear if he goes for it, definatly going to get another one Red, would you agree? Jamie Jones has impressed as has O'Sullivan, my man Robbo will have to play well to beat O'Sullivan in the quarters.
STH - I just think that with Hendry getting one a few of the other players are trying to get one just to pee him off...!!! I think that there will be another one and so far ive had my £2 bet on them all to do it... Trump was 66/1 and Ali 90/1 for the last match... For £2 its worth a go... Maybe Ronnie or Mark will get one later... I bloody hope so... 70/1 + 80/1 is the return... Great match that between Trump n Carter... Experience did Trump there, though that close free-ball would have changed things at the end...
