Mine arrived this morning, is it just me or does the arrival of the SC start to get the heart thumping in anticipation of the start of the new season. No fixture list with it this season, I’m not sure why , it can’t cost that much to provide SC holders with one surely.

Szmodics vs Premier League defenders Sammie Szmodcis has not only caught the eye with his performances in front of goal, in transition and City's approach play, the 23-year-old has added a real freshness to their attacking play. At times last season, the Robins could look a little one dimensional in the final third, passing from side to side with little penetration and unless they were able to counter, opposition teams could squeeze the life out of them. Szmodics is a ball of electricity, all front foot and pace, attacking defenders 1v1, dragging them out of position with a constant desire to attack the box. However, having spent the majority of his career in League Two and with his performances over the summer caveated with the fact that, well, it's only pre-season, we're yet to fit out just how good he is. Not that it will be answered against Palace, or even the next few months - Szmodics needs time to adapt to his teammates and surroundings - but his performance against the likes of Scott Dann, James Tomkins and Martin Kelly will be a more credible guide as to how close he is in making the step up to the Championship next weekend.
I'm down in deepest Cornwall counting them, let's hope for a good result but remember, it's only a friendly..

Goal: 0-1 (Townsend) Neat move down City’s left sees Meyer heavily involved before the ball falls for Townsend inside the box, with Bentley drawn out. No mistake. 0-2 (Schlupp) Palce win the ball at the restart and Schlupp is found running through the middle. The former Leicester City man shoots, the ball deflects off Webster and Kalas can’t keep the looping effort away from goal. Lead doubled.
Penalty shout Szmodics goes down in the box after meeting Eliasson’s pass. Guaita did catch him. However Friend waves it away. Maybe looking for it.
Goal: 0-3 (Benteke) Luka Milovojevic clips the ball into the City penalty area from the edge of the box. Benteke is running through the line and nods into the bottom corner. 3-0 to the visitors. Benteke had a lot of space between Kalas and Webster.
