I, my wife my son and daughter are Season Ticket holders in the Lower Loft. For me the decision to renew next season is a given, of course we will, money and personal circumstances allowing. It is possible though that the club could kick us out of the Lower Loft. Now after the shambles of this season that could well be the straw that breaks the camels back. This season we have been to all the home games and many of the away games. Never before have we been so uninspired by not only the teams performances but the tactics as well. In so many games we simply havent had a go. I can take losing if we put in a fighting performance. Like Southampton and Reading. We have been going to Rangers for more years that I care to mention. Lets just say that I was there before the League Cup win. We have had bad years before havent we? we can all remember the cr*p football in the lower divisions. But what i cannot ever remember seeing before was a group of players who are paid so much, yet deliver so little (with a few exceptions that we could all name). The saddest thing for me last saturday was how quiet the crowd was for a full house. The on field tactics and performance just failed to lift the spirits yet again. I will always be a Ranger, I will always support my club, but there has to be a limit to how much cr*p we can take. On the subject of the Lower Loft I have written to our CEO a number of times, both by letter and email and never had a single reply, either from him or a member of staff. That coupled with the way the box office deal with ticket sales is depressing enough without what happens on the pitch. If we get kicked out of our seats next season I will think long and hard about renewing. In answer to the original post though, I feel for ALL fans who have gone to games this season not just ST holders. We are all suffering, just some more than others. At the end of the day though we are all simply Rangers fans who want the best for our team. And I'm very worried about the money that we have wasted chasing what looks like a lost cause and where it will take us. Watching the Swans win a trophy when we were the Champions having trounced them in the promotion season really sticks in my throat. Sorry for the rambling post but there is so much wrong at our club, I dont know where to start and end. But as always Up the R'sssss.
Oh no you're not! I am (RTID). More seriously, and without casting aspersions on anyone else, I will renew next year whether Prem or Champ or League 1 etc. I have paid over £700 to see one win so far this season! I took the advice of my son to view the experience as entertainment. Saturday's game was a good examply. Of course we would have loved to draw or win but those nearly moments (header cleared off the line and great shot from Remy saved) were actually entertaining. There have been other nearly moments. Adel practically one on one with the Reading goalie, penalty (missed sadly) against Norwich, draw against Man City etc. Of course we all want to win. Of course we all want to stay in the PL but the fact is that every year 3 teams go down and this year it may just be us. Change your mind set and enjoy the entertainment as and where you can find it, even if it has been so sparse this season (so far!!). It is possible to get relegated with dignity and continue to get enjoyment from being a QPR supporter. I thoroughly enjoy wearing QPR logos out and about as a sign that I remain proud to be a loyal QPR fan despite the low position we occupy. IMHO, that's when fans should show their resolution to follow their team. Just my own thoughts and no criticism of anyone else meant or implied.
The rawness of this thread is a great example of what our great board is all about. From the opening posts of despair and despondency of this seasons debacle to the common ground that has become clearly evident. We all love the Rangers whatever happens. Most of us have been here, seen it and done it for far too often. But we still remain. I've enjoyed the way that this thread has gone through personal differences and introduced a nice plot twist to reach a common goal. We're all RTID.
while the original post was aimed at st holders, can I pipe up for overseas fans? we spend hundreds alone going to a single match. flights, food and in some cases hotels have to be booked weeks in advance. its really put me off going again this season as money is tight. the Waterford branch don't even meet up with the Wexford crew anymore. as they won't travel up and we're fed up of going down there. it's gotten that bad!
Can't say I've looked forward to any games this season. Getting sick of sitting there, looking to my left and watching the oppositions fans dancing and cheering. Oh and only seeing 9 goals all season. £750 well spent! Guess it's the price of loving your club through thick and thin.
I fully respect the lads that travel across as i do SB who travels the world and yet comes crashing down to earth in W12 that for me would be torture ... think about the travelling there and the hope that goes with it ... what can we all do
Iâm not sure how much of a buzz you would have had if you were at a game like Swansea away and if that trip would have been worth every penny. I disagree that way need to get the core back as II donât think they have left. Our core of committed fans is probably about 10,000-11,000. That is about how many on average we would regularly have during the league one days and most of those will be at every game still now. I will renew next season without hesitation as I donât think TF and Bhatia will take the micky on prices. This season has been absolutely dreadful from the very first game BUT this won't last forever. We will never have a manager as bad as Mark Hughes and I have faith in Redknapp to rebuild a side next year although hope he doesnât focus on short term old head signings. Now for the part that I will hopefully bump in the middle of May⦠we will stay up. Villa, Reading and Sunderland will go down. I cant believe that we will be as bad as we are all season. Somethingâs got to give and if we can get Remy, and Zamora on the pitch regularly and with Samba securing things at the back I can see Redknapp maintaining a confidence and a momentum which currently doesnât exist. Iâm hoping that Reading have already had their resurgence, Villa young side will hopefully not manage to cope and Sunderland have hit a bad run of form. There is always a team who fall back into it having thought they were safe and they still need to play away at United, Chelsea, rivals Newcastle, Tottenham and of course at our place. If we beat Southampton and Fulham manage a point at least at Sunderland then I really will believe this can happen
Thats a shame Inky. Really sorry to hear that. You are all great lads. You should try a day trip, it is tiring but less expensive than an overnight stay. You can do the whole day for less than 200 euro. 100 euro flight, 40 euro food and drink, 25 euro transport (petrol & tube fare), 35 euro match ticket. 200 euro total. First home game next season???
nearly killed me, literally, on Saturday mate. Arrived back at Birmingham airport from the States at 7.30 Saturday morning. Family were away skiing in France. I got my hair cut and bought food on the way home, got back shave, shower, bunged a load of washing in because I knew the house would be littered with stinking ski kit later, had some breakfast, decided not to lie down as I would never get up again, then drove down to W12. I knew it wasn't really safe and felt the eyelids going a few times, but I was afraid that if I pulled over I would fall asleep and that would be it for the day......as soon as I was out of the car in the fresh air, felt fine and was hopefully vaguely comprehensible in the pub with the lads. Drive back the rugby on the radio kept me going, but it was touch and go again for the last few miles. Another shower to wake myself up and back to the airport to pick the family up. Went to bed at midnight, slept 11 straight hours.
Fair play to you SB. Take away the international travel element and I had a similar day. Think I slept 14 straight hours on Sunday.
A lot of us travel in for games, it seems to me like the locals will go no matter what but the travellers cant handle it too much, partly because the price of going is doubled, plus we cant drink and then theres the depressing journey back. I have seen us score in 2 months FFS and cant even remember the last time I saw us score 2 goal.
Good post...as another ex-pat R, I haven't managed to get to many games at all the past few years, but have a huge amount of respect for those of you who make it week in and week out. I've even noticed here (Paris) that the enthusiasm from the 1 or 2 other QPR fans I know to go and watch in the pub has faded, so to put in the effort and lay out the money to go and watch every home game deserves applaud. Still...at the game or in a pub in Paris...RTID...as painful as that may be!
I pay for two season tickets for my son and myself. It's a great way for he and I to spend some time together, to have a common interest, to bond and to pass the baton on to the next generation. Absolutely priceless. Nevertheless, it's been a really painful 18 months and I sometimes wonder whether I'd rather be challenging at the top of the NPC rather than marooned at the bottom of the EPL. Am I glad to have a 2012/13 season ticket? You bet I am. Will I renew next season? You bet I will.
I saw a few empty seats at the game on Saturday. Come on, Manfeckinchester Utd come to W12 and there are empty seats!! I blame this on the club policy of hoofing out long standing ST holders from the Loft in order to make it a family stand, unscrupulous "fans" renewing with free tickets for kids they never take and all the while selling their seats on Viagogo. And why is it that when all my mates tried to renew in the Loft they were barred by the new rule yet I can see the same seats in front of where I used to sit full of the same old men that were always there? Did they all suddenly become fathers? This season we got our **** seats in Ellerslie Road at the LR prices but as they are Gold (really? Gold?) any price freeze ends if we want to renew for next season. If we stay up and the prices don't reflect what an awful season we've had (i.e. knock £500 off!) or even go up then that is it for me and I won't renew. If we go down and the prices drop I might be able to afford to renew in the Ellerslie but even then it is going to be a struggle and I might have to consider being a member and getting no more than handful of games in. Times are tough and I will have trouble justifying laying out £750 or more.
People that go to spend time with family and people who have the game interrupt their all day drinking session will renew no matter what. The people that go purely for the football can't take any more punishment. I think I've spent twenty hours travelling without seeing a single goal for us. Watching the text updates on the internet is more exciting than watching us.
