It seems a lot of you are disagreeing with my criticism of Gomis, but my issue is his consistency. A lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon because of his performance on the weekend but more often than not his decision making is lacklustre.. One too many touches of the ball.. not playing the obvious pass.. just an overall lack of instinct when the ball is at his feet which divides the mediocre strikers and the Sergio Agueros of this world (maybe an unfair comparison I admit).. As I said before we've been a bit spoilt with the likes of Bony last year, but surely we should be using the money from his sale to take a step forward, whereas Gomis feels like a step backward..

There's no doubt he can do a job for us, as Saturday proved, but sometimes as a fan you want more than that.. You need progression and a signal from the board that they want to improve on the squad each season that passes.

I can't see any fan jumping on the bandwagon as for the most part your fans are discussing how they have been impressed with Gomis and his improvement which started last season, rather then praising him simply for his performance against Chelsea.

Also you're being a tad unrealistic as which type of striker would you hope to sign, to take you forward? You only need to look at us (spurs) spending the Bale money on players to take us forward, that worked out well didn't it? and when AVB was fired, Sherwood used Adebayor (a striker our fans disliked).

Gomis may well be"medicore" when compared to the names you mention such as Aguero, but for a club of your level (and thats no disrespect intended) Gomis is at the very least a safe option, in that he will score goals, he will win you games (get points on the board) and he won't flop.

You could take a risk and spend big, but then which type of striker would be interested in Swansea? Your best bet is to find the next Bony, but in terms of a proven goalscorer that can settle in the premier league, Gomis looks to be that player, I just hope for Swansea that he has a great season.

Didn't want to create a thread for this so thought I'd post it here,I'm travelling to Swansea for our game with you this weekend, are there any pubs/bars that are use to accommodate away fans?

Looking forward to the game, my last visit was a Tuesday night game where Shelvey ran the show and we lost 3-0. Any help would be appreciated!

TBH any pub in the city will be fine just try to stay on the beaten track. My suggestion would be Wind ST before making your way to the stadium then go to the two just outside the ground (frankies and harvester). The onl one to avoid really would be the Railway Inn.

When I mentioned people jumping on the Gomis bandwagon I was talking about football fans in general who perhaps don't watch full Swansea games regularly, and as such can't comment on his overall performances. It's easy to watch Match of the Day on a Saturday night and hear Lineker call him the best thing since sliced bread based on the 5 clips you've seen of him play, but that doesn't paint the whole picture. I'm not going to sit here and deny he played a blinder on Saturday, but most games he doesn't play at that level I'm afraid.

As a Spurs fan you mention spending the Bale money and it didn't get you anywhere, but how would you feel if say only 20% of that money was spent on new players?? You've been unfortunate that players like Soldado never worked out, but aren't you glad that your board showed a bit of intent by actually reinvesting the money after losing your best player? I'm not expecting us to buy a Sergio Aguero or a Diego Costa, all I want is an improvement on Bony, which I'm afraid Gomis is not!

Considering the ****e we have purchased, spending 20% on new players would have been much smarter! I had a similar debate with a fellow spurs fan about this topic who said we had to spend the Bale money (to please fans) while at the time I said we purchased far too many players, the money would be wasted and AVB would be out of his depth and you don't need to tell me who was right!

You say you want an improvement on Bony and Gomis isn't, well you tell us who is an improvement on Bony and a player that would be realistic to sign? I take it they are queueing up to join your club?

Why spend 25 million when you have a player you signed on a free (or 8 million if you count the signing on fee as the transfer fee), had a season to settle and is now settled. That is smart business and a smart footballing decision but if you believe you can sign a striker that is as good as Bony (or an improvement) then I would love to hear some names.
