Belated, but here it is ... PL (like for like with 2016-17 after 15 games) : Pts = -8 , GF = -17, GA = +3. As far as the PL campaign goes, first time since about 2015 that questions must be asked about Pochettinos' squad management (in the face of player injuries) .
So we reach halfway in the season, and how are things going ?? The CL campaign has been exemplary. 10 out of 10. The PL campaign not so good. On the like for like with last season, the pts deficit is down to not dealing with the Wembley busparquet. And let us be honest here, there is no margin of error on dropped points whatsoever at home now for the rest of the season. Similarly with the GF, though we were unlikely to spank Lesta with 6 goals away this season. League Cup : 20 mins of 2nd half complacency by the team (no complaints about the starting XI etc chosen by Pochettino against the Spanners) .
IMHO a very objective and succinct appraisal of the current state of play for Spurs this season : https://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/2017/12/context
PL (like for like with 2016-17 after 24 games) : Pts = -13 , GF = -18, GA = +3. And that IMHO will be sufficient to ensure that Spurs do not finish in the top 4 this season.
That's how I read it as well, but I thought we had 50 points after 24 games last season, so 5 points worse off.
I think the measurement is to the equivalent games last season, rather than to the same point in the season.
I am no statistician but wouldn't that suggest we have a few games to go that were poor last season and so could catch up somewhat.
Not at home (W17 D2 L0) . A like for like repeat now will only get 73 pts. The improvements will have to come from the remaining away games.
Agreed, but at this stage we are 5 points behind schedule. Playing the same teams we are 13 points behind, therefore we have 8 points still to drop. If we turn those fixtures around (starting with Utd) then we can be fairly close to last season and second. Also find that City are taking more points off our rivals than they did last year and perhaps some of them are down on last year too?
