Here is my proposal for the FA Cup 3rd Round. I've given kick off times to obviate any controversy as to why the Beeb has got the fixtures in this order. I've included Argyle, Bristol City and Swansea to represent all interests. Wycombe (2nd in League 1) v Portsmouth (21st in the Championship) is the Super Match. I've included a couple of all-Premier-League ties as we probably all know a bit about those and no doubt they'll be on TV. I've included a couple of minnows v giants ties, especially where there's local derby interest as a bonus (i,e Leeds, Man City), where the issue will presumably be getting the score right as well as the result. To add a bit of a challenge, goal totals will be ON. I've included Millwall v Dagenham just because it's a local(ish) derby. Friday 10th January Wycombe Wanderers v Portsmouth (19:45 KO) Aston Villa v West Ham United (20:00 KO) Saturday 11th January Bristol City v Wolverhampton Wanderers (12:00 KO) Liverpool v Accrington Stanley (12:15 KO) Brentford v Plymouth Argyle (15:00 KO) Leeds United v Harrogate Town (17:45 KO) Manchester City v Salford City (17:45 KO) Leyton Orient v Derby County (18:00 KO) Sunday 12th January Tamworth v Tottenham Hotspur (12:00 KO) Arsenal v Manchester United (15:00 KO) Southampton v Swansea City (16:30 KO) Monday 13th January Millwall v Dagenham & Redbridge
I was hoping that you would have the Newcastle v Bromley (Sun)...game in mind....but never mind. My grandson will be back at Durham Uni before the weekend.....he's got himself a ticket for the match....he says it's only 10 minutes or so to get to Newcastle from Durham....they'll surely put their reserves out against Bromley.
I really did a dumb thing in coming up with the Super match didn't I? Also in leaving the last two games switched "Off" from yesterday when I looked at the scores then.
I really did a dumb thing in coming up with the Super match didn't I? Also in leaving the last two games switched "Off" from yesterday when I looked at the scores on Saturday. And no I didn't get up specially to do this: Mary's still in Somerset and is intending to come back early this morning. That will mean coming over the Blackdown Hills.........
You didn't need to get up in the middle of the night to add the last two matches notDistant......those 23 points scored could have waited until the morning. PS.....Only just noticed your final comment.....hope she travels safely.
She got 2 or 3 miles and wisely turned back. Roads are now closed at Shepton Mallett, so she can't even get off the Mendips never mind the Blackdown Hills! Bristol Airport is closed again,
This is the cup so am treating different from the league results wise this time because I'm a bit fed up with throwing points away willy nilly.......... Wycombe 2 - 1 Portsmouth (joker) Aston Villa 3 - 0 West Ham Bristol City 1 - 3 Wolves Liverpool 5 - 0 Accrington Brentford 5 - 0 Plymouth (4 mins) Leeds 4 - 0 Harrogate Man City 6 - 1 Salford Leyton Orient 1 - 2 Derby Tamworth 1 - 4 Tottenham Arsenal 2 - 0 Man United Southampton 1 - 2 Swansea Millwall 3 - 0 Dagenham
That’s a lot of goals Sensible…… You realise the Premier League clubs playing lesser teams will 1) start with several of their main players rested, 2) get 2-0 up and 3) being on a bunch of teenagers?
