Be interesting to see how Riza sets up on Tuesday. It’s not a totally must win game but looking at the season as a whole it’s a massive game. The games coming up after - WBA away, Norwich at home & Luton away will be real tests whereas this has to be seen as a game City need to carry on like they did v Plymouth, pick as attacking team as possible, and blow Pompey away regardless of their their first win at QPR. Team for me: Alnwick Ng Goutas Chambers Bagan Willock Turnbull Robertson Colwill Tanner Robinson
Agreed with most of that but no disrespects to Bagan however O'Dowda did well v Plymouth and is a greater threat going forward. If fit I would start him. I get Willock instead of El Ghazi. 50/50 for me. Both will be confident after getting their first goals. Willock has more constructive passing skills but is not as quick as El Ghazi. The latter needs to make better use of his final ball if he wants to cement his place. Wish we had alternative strikers on the bench instead of Kanga and Meitie. That will change when Davies and Etete get fit. Not major upgrades but better than the other two. I will bang the drum again for Reindorf to be on the bench. I don't get why he's not. Selection for the bench will be interesting if Siopis and Ralls are available. Other than the strikers who can't strike I'm not sure who I would drop although the bench was overloaded with defenders, perhaps Collins should step down but Daland and Fish are talents who need to be involved.
It's a comment I made up thread when the team was announced. I think (hope) it was because no one else was fit, but like you I'd like to see Reindorff, plus another youngster, rather than an unbalanced bench. No RB cover (Kpakio would do a job), 2 CBs, 2 LBs, no attacking CM and a misfiring striker. I suppose it's fortunate the likes of Robertson, Turnbull, O'Dowda, Robinson, El Ghazi and Colwill can play more than one position. We still need to balance what is on the bench and be able to rest legs when we have 3 games in 8 days. With us being in a dominant position yesterday, we were able to take the likes of O'Dowda, El Ghazi, Turnbull and Colwill off without risking a comeback. Let's hope we lose a defender or two and gain a CM or two for Tuesday. I think Ashford should be back by then. Something a bit different.
If we can beat Pompey on Tuesday (and I know that's a big if, it certainly won't be easy), Millwall and Plymouth are playing each other, so we should climb out of the bottom 3 if we are able to pick up the 3 points. That'd also be 10 points from 15 under Riza I believe... That's not too shabby at all. Just gotta do the business again and find that consistency now.
Reindorf unlikely to be in tomorrow night's squad as the Under 21's have a cup game v Cardiff Met tonight. So, the Chuckle Brothers it is then.
