I never go beyond two goals for any team.....which I admit puts me at a disadvantage at times.....this means my total goals scored will rarely ever get out of the twenty's.

Looking at previous year tables.....away wins are harder to achieve in this division than in last years Div One.

For instance last season...Sheffield U who came second lost 11 games.......Middlesboro who came fourth lost 15 games......and Coventry who came fifth lost 12 games.

Last season in Div One.....the top three teams lost......7...4...6... games respectively.

The way I do my forecasts, that game was a no-brainier for a joker, so I merely did what I always do and let the Super Match take car of itself. The difference wasn’t eggs in baskets: the game just followed form for once!

Get you two with your formulas and past seasons historical stuff. JUST THINK OF A BLEDDY NUMBER AND STICK IT DOWN. That is about as scientific as I get. And most others given the scores we get.

I would think you could view the Super Match in two or even more ways.

1.....You could choose it in advance by naming it at the beginning of the season for every week of the 46 match prediction year...and therefore show no favour or personal bias in choosing it.

2.....By doing it only at the start of each prediction week....personal favours might override your choice of match....and of course tasty matches will appear because of league positions etc.

So....six of one and half a dozen of the other as they say.....your in charge....BUT....if you keep coming up winning a 12 pointer too often....you might have a riot on your hands.

What do you mean personal bias? If I name a game before kickoff, and get serious points on it myself, that’s not bias, that’s a bloody miracle!

Anyway I’m open to suggestions for future matches which are relevant or significant or special and are humorous, thought provoking and original.

Now I come to write that last bit, I begin to see why I struggle to find one every week!

And it’s not in me to just guess Sensible.

I first have to import some data and do a bit of quants.

    Only then do I guess.

Somewhat belatedly, these are our predictions for this midweek round:

    upload_2023-10-4_8-52-21.png

    upload_2023-10-4_8-53-21.png

With the Tuesday results in, Joe and SMH are at the front. Both of them have "threes" - Joe on Southampton to win at Stoke and SMH on Middlesborough to win at Stoke. The rest of us are, well, nowhere really.
Plym got the Argyle goal time, being the only one in the second half and with wrong team scoring it!

Musty got a "two" from his joker on Ipswich's home win. I blew mine on Cardiff to win at Middlesborough. The rest of you have your jokers on matches taking place tonight.

Much better scores from the second day of this round than the first. Particularly noteworthy were a 6 from Joe on the Leicester v Preston Super Game and a 12 from Sensible from the same game.

On that point, the Birmingham City v West Brom local derby will be the next Super Match on Friday at 8pm. It's an early start to the weekend programme again, so don't be late submitting and I presume you'll be able to watch your 12 points won or lost on Sky Sports. With 10 games behind us already, we'll have Double Points too, so make that 12 a potential 24.

Plym got the goal time as previously mentioned. He's a lucky boy because if it had been 4-0 to Argyle at half time nobody watching would have been surprised.

There were no points on the Total Goals this time but they reflected the volatile nature of this league: 41 last time and only 27 this.

    upload_2023-10-5_1-42-6.png

The top two, Away In BC and Lyndhurst, both got 11. Joe moved up 2 places and is now level with and Plym and those two closed up on the two at the top. Sensible's Super Match lifted him two places. That feature has certainly randomised things a bit!

To repeat, the next round starts with an 8pm on Friday but but completes on Saturday. Then we get a break until the 20th due to international games.

For some reason I'd left your forecast out altogether on Tuesday Away. You can see it in the Tuesday preview tables because you show 12 draws and no joker. Not sure how that happened. Sorry about that.

Anyway, I picked it up before I posted the final results and you did indeed get 2 points on WBA, which finished 1-0 versus your 2-0 forecast.

On that that point, the preview tables are there as a matter of general interest, for you to see how your forecast compares with others. It also is worth checking over to make sure I haven't made any obvious mistakes. As you've seen, it does happen, all too frequently some would say!
