WTF did Ainsworth look like with his Cuban heels and his tight jeans, oh and his long scraggy hair….and his aging torso, did us he did!
Oh, and why do CCFC always kick towards the Grange End in the first half, ever thus since the stadium staged its first game against Scunthorpe…..90% I bet? Time for a change maybe! :emoticon-0103-cool: Masky

Just off to watch Match Of The Day on iPlayer. See where my licence money is going, oh, and study the opposition for next season....allowing for three teams missing! :emoticon-0103-cool: Masks

If we have to rely on Ralls, the one footed passive average player that he is then we’re doomed.

That made me laugh. I expect us to go to Leicester and rip them apart after that show.

The good news is Collins suddenly looked really good, O`Dowda ran his socks off with little or no help, Tanner is energetic and with a little composure could be a top player. McGuiness and Allnick were solid. Robinson is a cool customer and Ugbo just happens to be scoring goals. I was expecting big things from Goustas but he continues to let me down. If we stopped passing the ball to Wintle that would help. Bulut has now left himself in dire trouble if he don`t beat Leicester, he has 10 games max to get us into the top six so he better start right now, I have money riding on promotion and I want results quickly.

It’s not right to just pick out Wintle whom had a poor game yesterday - as did ODowda Bowler Grant Goutas Ng & Ugbo.

Last seasons pathetic headed goals from corners looks like being repeated. McGuinness & Goutas should each be getting half a dozen at least.

Wintle and Ngs starts to the season are worrying. I wonder whats up there. Both decent Championship players which make them amongst our better players.

If we are to stay up we need them at their best. Ng is miles better than Romeo and we need him in the side.

If Ralls gets fit a spell on the bench may do Wintle some good.

It's times like this that make me grateful for my Saturday afternoon contacted shift.

Oh well, we all got hoodwinked by last week's promise and the premise that QPR are a useless team.

I think they are, it's just we were more useless on the day.

OK, so, at the risk of going against the grain a little on here (and basing my assessment purely on reports, comments and brief highlights) I'm still relatively encouraged by our overall direction of travel, despite the setback against QPR.

The first goal was a horrendous error by O'Dowda which to be fair to him is unlike him in the main. MOTM has to go to McGuinness again based purely on his efforts and for being oh so unlucky at the death not to rescue a point for us.
It seems the introduction of Robbo & Tanner definitely lifted the tempo and our ability to dominate the game. Getting Robbo fit enough to start will be a massive boost as he is probably the most intelligent/quick minded player we have outside of Rambo and there were signs that he can help link play/act as a pivot up top allowing Rambo, O'Dowda, Bowler and others to benefit around him.

Slightly different circumstance I know but hopefully the point/example will be seen as valid but I started watching "Mission to Burnley" last night. They brought in a load of new players under Vinny Kompany and it took quite a while for them to gel and there were doubts starting to be cast by the board and others as to how quickly they could get to winning ways. One board member made the comment that whilst they were desperately trying to find ways speed up the process (as a board and fans) Kompany was in less of a hurry as he'd said it wold take time to build their identity, for the players to buy into the methods and for the methods to start to become 2nd nature.

I think we're at a similar stage (again). A new manager who is trying to impart a philosophy and way of playing that won't necessarily be comfortable or familiar to our existing players, whilst trying to bed in new players and have them start to build the necessary partnerships across the pitch.
Despite some of the obviously mundane stuff that didn't make the highlights, there are clear patterns of play starting to form and over time I'm confident these will get better.

QPR were always going to be better than their previous performance and lift their game. We could count ourselves a tad unfortunate having rattled the woodwork with 2 decent efforts. If either of those go in, who knows what the result could have been?

Give us 10-12 games and let's see how we are faring/playing then...

Great post Brizzle and I would agree with you about getting the team to gel together. A dozen games in and we should know how we are progressing. Based on the first 70 minutes on Saturday we are starting from a very low point so we should expect to see a faster improvement.
