Another long term injury. This hasn't been our worst season for those so far, but there's a long way to go. Inniss still has one more suspension to serve I think, assuming they don't count Cup games. Maybe they do...
These are hard times. Charlton fans out there who'd love to be at the Brighton game but literally cannot afford to come, deserve help if it can be given. Is there a train strike that day? I've given up trying to keep track of them.
Just for the record, after 22 games Charlton are now 4 points worse off than we were at this stage of last season. And that was our poorest season for 96 years. We've failed to win any of our last five home league games, taking 2 points from a possible 15. Our form over the past 7 games is fewer than 0.5 points per game on average. Melt-down form. Even if you go back and include those three consecutive wins we got (remember them?), we've picked up just 12 points from our last 11 games. And going back 15 games our PPG is 1.0 on average. In a nutshell, Charlton have been in relegation form since the closing of the summer transfer window.
With one away win in the league all season. Even in 2021-22 we managed 17 league wins in the end, most of those down to Johnnie Jackson in his first few months. Charlton will have to win 12 of our remaining 24 games to equal that total. We could be course to win the fewest games ever in our 3rd tier history; 11 (from 42) in 1925-26 14 (from 46) in 2016-17 If we fail to meet even those low numbers relegation is likely. Carving out 10 draws so far has kept us a few places clear of the bottom 4. But can we grind out another 10 this season?
Injury news I get the feeling that Holden is being diplomatic about some of our injury prone players.
