I doubt if Nosworthy would want to go, he left Sunderland and took a wage cut in doing so because he wanted to live in the London area.
What a difference between SD getting plenty of support here and MM and BR leaving with a bad smell lingering.
absolutely. Different kind of men...different approach to the club. Who knows what SD might have done had the opportunities come along like they did for the others, but he left us on a high, he was liked, well respected, and seemed honest and honourable. He'll get a great reception when he comes back to the Vic, no doubt about that.
Yeh Malky, leaving a seemingly penniless club for one with rather more prospects-similarly those who followed you. Not something any of us would do in the same position.....much.Not advisable to be a football supporter if you cant take being jilted sometimes.(All forgotten what Dyche was like as a player ? Not popular unless he played for your team I suggest!)
Nick - sometimes in life it is not what you do its the way that you do it - both BR and MM left us "badly" whereas with SD it was us who treated him "badly"
Mr Mackay was entitled to leave anyway he chose to in view of the many years good service he gave the club...and the state they were in at the time. Mr Rogers should never be lumped in with MM as the former is an opportunist who showed little interest in WFC from day one.People connect the two cos they both left THEIR club and their prides hurt. The similarity between the two individuals should end there.
I do agree that they are two different cases. Clearly Nick knows about BR as he used to chat to him when they were neighbours and I think his description of him as an opportunist is spot on. MM was probably far more in the know about the clown and what was going on behind the scenes than we were, but for him to use his knowledge of peoples contract situations and who the club was trying to sign after he left was poor judgement. He was told enough is enough, but carried on regardless.
TBF Having seen what Bassini was like you couldn't blame Malky for walking out. Rodgers was a bit like the modern day player really...only joined because he saw us as a chance to step onto the management ladder. Leo is right though - Dyche didn't walk but was forced out and didn't make much of a fuss. TBH I am not sure he would've wanted to work with a load of unknown loan players anyway...not sure Zola does to an extent!
Views on Dyche had improved up here as people have realised what an asset he may be as a manager. Burnley a lot like us really. My neighbour is a Burnley supporter and they are all warming to having SD.
Disagree with you in some respects Nick - not that I had tried to lump B R in with MM anyway. However both left Watford because they thought they could do better, both had suggested they would be loyal to Watford - BR "Don't question my integrity" and MM by signing a new contract AFTER Bassini came in; in a sense I resent MM more as BR at least had connections with Reading whereas MM had none with Cardiff - it was simply about money and opportunity - and he came back and tried to pick Watford clean. Many of us in life have moved on to new jobs for better opportunities and more money but I NEVER would have signed a new contract and then moved within 3 months.
Somehow I cannot help but smile when I see BR on the wrong end of a result against one of his former clubs.
Although I probably despise judas more than manky I was really disappointed in manky coming back to the club after he had left and then trying to bleed us dry of players and back room staff - not much loyalty in that to a club he knew was financially in difficulties and who he had played for as well as managed. It's that that makes me boo manky when he comes back to Watford and will continue to do so.
BR had only been in charge at Reading for 5 mins and he was trying to sign Tommy Smith from us, have people forgotten that?? Then when he realised he couldn't get Tommy he signed Jobi McAnuff instead.
Jobi was desperate to go with him, that's why he got booed so much when we had our first game at Reading that season...i'll never forget the look on his face when the boo began, it was one of complete shock..and almost fear!
Sean Dyche = positive feelings = worth savouring Brendan Rogers & Malky Mackay = negative feelings = waste of energy
Well done Sean on getting a win today against a strong opposition. Also well done, because that was the score i predicted i think!
