I would like to be the first to say that this is by far the worst match thread you have ever created. You should be ashamed ACS.
Would expect Rafa to play same team as last week as Haidara and Dummett are still both injured. We should be confident going into this one and its important we win to keep the run going. Think it will be close but going for a 2-1 win.
This should be a good test of our mental resolve this weekend. 3 wins on the bounce but the boys need to keep their feet on the ground and play with the same grit and determination as the last few. I'd consider Gayle for this one a head of Joselu as I think his pace could be a benefit upfront and depending on the tactics replacing Ayo with Shelvey to add a bit more to the midfield although I think Ayo has done well recently and if Gayle wasn't fit/mentally ready yet I'd play Ayo up top.
I first went to watch us play at Brighton back in the early Eighties and we won 1-0 that day....Waddle? I'm going for the same result again...I ain't going this time though (living room also).
I think Rafa has a thing for Joselu and Perez and has gone cold on Gayle. Think he will start with them both again. I like the way Joselu plays but he really needs a goal after last week.
Its that Spanish blood haha, to be fair they seem like the best pairing atm, just think we could do with a bit of pace up top and some extra legs in midfield this week and Gayle or Perez would give us that up top. Chuck Joselu on with 25 to go at the end and batter a tired defense.
Gayle and Murphy need to be coming off that subs bench about 60mins in if we're not winning, so I'd do it the other way round. I get why Rafa will stick with Perez and Joselu so its probably the best we can hope for. This game would be perfect for them as its mostly a defence they both faced last season. Either of them producing a little something would push up their confidence massively and, with Liverpool and Southampton around the corner, I don't see them getting this opportunity for another few weeks. Shelvey can go suck a fat one, he can play when we need him and, currently, not sure we do. Him and Gayle starting represents too much risk to me
Hope Krul plays, give us a chance to form an unbiased opinion on him from the point of view of an opponent. If he does play, Rafa needs to tell Ritchie to be banging those crosses in, cos Krul never dominated his box with us. As much as we respect Hughton, Brighton are probably the weakest team all round in the Prem this season, will be a big achievement if they stay up. Not a massive amount of strengthening since last season, and we comfortably did the double over them then. Have Elliott and Mbemba in my FF team this week, a brave, some may say foolish move. Hopefully this should be a routine win, Brighton 0 Newcastle 2.
That's a good omen - Lawrenson has us done for a loss. Things are looking good. I just hope Chippy remembered his insurance bet before going on holiday or it will be all his fault.
