Looking at the entries we wont be seeing any until the 11th of August at the Curragh when 3 of them are engaged to race
Races maybe a bit sharp for his progeny? Have heard somewhat conflicting reports from various yards, plenty had said they looked like late types but whispers coming through that one or two are actually working very well.
Generally speaking, most of the Sea the Stars' are expected to be later maturing types. Don't forget that he did not make his own debut until mid-July and his sire Cape Cross is not known as a source of precocious types. Add to this the fact that his half-brother Galileo only had 1 start at 2 (in October) and his first crop did not start to shine until they were 3, it implies that there will not be many sharp/early types. Remember that New Approach was a precocious 2 year old himself with 5 runs between July and October, so he was always likely to sire sharp types. It is not the case that New Approach had lots of runners by this time last year. In fact, by this point in 2012 he had only had 5 runners. His debutants ran as follows: 34 runners, 10 winners Debut in March - 1 Debut in April - 0 Debut in May - 4 Debut in June - 6 Debut in July - 2 Debut in August - 10 Debut in September - 6 Debut in October - 5
I'd be amazed if Sea The Stars gets anywere near the success that New Approach is having as a stallion. New Approach is the successor to Galileo
Entry: JUVENILE LEAD is entered for a maiden at Leicester on 3rd June. Big surprise to see this one as the first one out, as the pedigree isn't exactly precocious!
But her mummy's second foal won first time out and a few have won as 2yos. Stoute used to get his 2yos out earlier, but in the last 10 years he's been a bit tardy. He's getting the horses out this year though. Is this his first 2yo to run? A very interesting entry.
Yes this will be his first runner. Ballymacoll aren't known for 2yo types, so it is interesting to see this one out first.
Out early because he's small and he might not grow. Owner/breeders want him to win for the mare. Yard do like him though.
Is that from the stable GGW or are you surmising? My guess would be he's either very good or the exact opposite.
Not very sensible to base a stallion's entire prospects on one runner! He was never going to get precocious 2yos as he was never one himself, but the pedigree says he will have some degree of success at stud - all of his brothers have so far. New Approach has been a freak occurence so far, but he needs to maintain the success to bring breeders back. Don't forget that Galileo himself had a fairly mediocre start with his first two year olds, it was not until they reached 3 that they started to show promise.
