However in the list of all time averages we have just overtaken Luton. I have mentioned this before but only 13 teams have averaged over 40,000 average. TWS never have. Man City have a few times now but only did it once at Maine Road which for a long time had a capacity of over 80,000. If you don't know the 13 teams it is interesting to use the link to find them. Some have only done it once, others a couple of times. A couple of them are surprising, one particularly. Re Juventus, they do seem to have more support elsewhere. When they had an argument with council a few years ago they threatened to move out and played a home game at Bologna which got a larger crowd than their previous home game in Turin.
Oh aye, I know. They've moved games right down south and sold out stadiums. Was it at Bari from memory? And in the UEFA cup they were averaging under 10k for games in Turin so - annoyed - they moved a UEFA cup home game to Milan and sold out getting 88,000. They're the best supported team in Milan, which is incredible for a city with 2 European Cup winning teams.
Have always liked Fiorentina. Florence is a beautiful, sophisticated city but it is the only city without a Juve supporters club as three time they built one and three times their fans torched it.
They only want us to swap, so they get a chance to visit the KCom Stadium in the league in the next season or so ...
Wales seem to have the lowest average attendance in Europe yet reached the Semi-Final of Euro 2016! Amazing.
Crowds don't win football matches though they can encourage teams to play above themselves and instil fear in the opposition.
Sorry I had my tongue firmly in my cheek. The best supported teams in Wales are obviously playing in the English pyramid and the best players are hoovered up by the English academies.
A really interesting site, just wish it had the years as 2002 - 2003 so you knew which season it was referring to as opposed 2002 which could mean that calendar year or the 2001 - 2002 season.
