You have a point, SB3. IF we hadn't been such an attractive prospect, with a reasonably small debt* (at least it was minuscule compared with yours), a new 32,000 seat stadium and a wonderful academy with a proven track record, then Saint Markus may not have been interested. IF we'd been over £100m in debt, gone broke in the Premier League...still a record<applause>.... had a 19th century toilet stadium, with 20,000 seats and no academy(or youth team worth mentioning), THEN we might have got the fake sheikh instead of the Swiss saviour. As you can see, it was all purely down to luck!<laugh>

* for a real, not fake,billionaire:emoticon-0148-yes:

You conveniently forget that the fat German did not pay Norwich Union in full for your flat pack stadium , which at the end of the day saw NU(now Aviva) write off £20mn which was never and never will be paid by the so far surviving fat German (jibes against us from your fans for failed payments are noted here) .Swiss owner?, don't make me laugh, your argument is so full of holes it might as well be Swiss cheese.

Your Scum club can not support the level of expenditure given your latest audited and interim accounts which will in any event, were you to luckily qualify for some sort of European football may see your exclusion on financial irregularities given your trading losses.<whistle>Non sustainable business, your end is nigh, as soon as fatty either sells out or leaves<laugh> <laugh>

Yeah, dismiss anything you don't agree with, even if it's true, as BS. Great one.

As for the comment on the war, you would do well to remember that Pompey had been runners up in the FA Cup twice during the late 20s and early 30s, I suppose that was due to the war as well? Even if the first was whole 10 years before the war. Furthermore, both of Pompey's league wins came not immediately after the war, but the first was a whole two seasons after the war.... So the impact might not be as great as you claim, otherwise why wouldn't they have won the season following Bit hypocritical, trying to bellitle and dismiss the achievements of other clubs, yet when someone claims that Southampton only got into the Premier League because they were bankrolled (which is a fact), you dismiss it as BS.

PL. No wonder you can't find someone to share your life with, you are so bitter and opinionated. I really can't be bothered to spend to much time trying to talk to you prob like most people. I said to you that the Li

PL. No wonder you can't find someone to share your life with, you are so bitter and opinionated. I really can't be bothered to spend to much time trying to talk to you prob like most people. Look back I said to you that the Leibherr facts were part of our History as was the war part of yours. No more. Both are real facts. Get your head out your ass and try and enjoy life more.

The true sign of someone who knows they've lost an argument: resorting to personal attacks and saying they 'can't be bothered' to continue.

As for history: You implied the Leibherr money was part of Southampton's history thus irrelevant today, I merely said that is false because you're still being bankrolled by Leibherr money. Likewise, you implied that our success was due to the war, again I I said that's false as we had been relatively successful quite a bit before war broke out (although I don't deny that much of our success was during the decade or so pre and post the war) . Perhaps I expressed those views in a more aggressive manner than I should have, but the arrogance in tottonsaint's post beforehand pissed me off.

And why would I be bitter about football? It's just a game, it's ultimately not important at all. Frankly whether Southampton finish 4th, 1st or 19th, it's not going to change my life in any way which is why I've never joined in in any anti-Southampton chants at any games I've been to nor do I ever intend to. Likewise I don't go out of my way to look out for Southampton results. To be honest football isn't something worth getting bitter over.

Though the trolling by Southampton fans on the Portsmouth news website does get a bit annoying.

Also, there's nothing wrong with having an opinion. So long as it's not racist, sexist, homophobic, etc

Well said Lapras I endorse what you have said<applause> But don't you just hate that fat German gay bitch?<whistle>

I don't know her so I couldn't make a judgement on whether I hate her or not, but generally speaking I don't tend to hate people. Life's too short for hating, it's just a wasted emotion and not worth it. There's only a couple of people I can honestly say I hate, one of which is an ex who totally messed me about.

But hey, less of the personal attacks, SB3. It doesn't do you any credit.

My comments were all the things you said you did not think were appropriate, which is why I said them!

I like sailing close to the edge, its more fun!<laugh> <laugh>

Oh well looks like i managed to get a bite out of PL, when the comment was about leaving Premier League talk to teams that have been there, was in response to the bitter Plymouth fan, who's club have obviously have never been anywhere near the top flight, and have recently started to slide down the 4th division table.
I suppose when you go fishing, you dont always catch what you aim for. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

<laugh> SB3:emoticon-0132-envy:

An agreed price. Liebherr made an offer for what he regarded as a bargain (ein Schnäppchen) and it was accepted. It wasn't his debt to begin with. How much in the pound did PFC pay on their £130m+ debt?

I'm pretty sure Ms Liebherr is Swiss-born, not that there's anything wrong with being German.

As a matter of interest, what do the latest audited accounts and interim show?

Couple of days away and it gets a bit spiky on this thread - SB3 you are a wag and a rascal but you do make me laugh. The general thrust of the convo seems to have veered between Saints arrogance over position - lucky to have Lieb money and even PL's personal life. So I'll pass comment on some but PL your personal life shall remain that my friend.

I think we have to acknowledgde that the stripes have exceeded all expectations this season - many pundits predicted a fall of great speed and certainly baled them up as relegation fodder - no Madrid pun intended. I felt they'd be lower mid table as Koeman had a good track record and a good network of scouts. So I think any of their fans have the right to be cock a hoop really, as they are, as much as it pains me to say it, doing very very well. As for being put out of the League cup by Sheff U that needs to be taken on the chin and hearty congrats offered to the Blades - any saying otherwise need to remember only recently where they were - all our Cup competitions are built on a history of underdog having it's day - and being in the top flight pretty much rules out underdog status - Burnley excluded from this who I feel are doing an astounding job having spent very little since promtion. Most of the posters who come on here from up the road are balanced in their views of where they are - and many clubs will have their " a lower league club beat us? the cheek of it " types - and I won't use the word that's apt for people like that. I still think that top 6 is within their grasp however I'm not sure about top 4 - for no other reason than squad depth - if they remain relatively injury free they may sneak in.

Are the "big guns" in the PL dioing it this year - 2 are - the rest not - and this means teams like the Hammers, Stains & the Swans are all in there causing frayed nerves amongst the traditional top 4 - and I freely admit I'm glad about that - I hate league football that is dominated by a couple of teams - it's dull - at least this season (and last to be fair) the PL is interesting.

The money - now this is a difficult one - yes they were lucky - very - as were Chelski and Man Ceithiad. There is no question that without it they would not have risen at the rate the have - however I think what has to be acknowledged, and again it isn't easy to say it, they have used the money intelligently and ensured the foundations that they have are solid - of course if a sell up happened and "can I have Dad's money back" came from Ms L things might prove to be tough. I do think we can't help but look at them and think if we hadn't had such financially inept management for our 8 years in the PL we may have not found ourselves where we now are. That failure though lies with many - not though the Fratton faithful - conversely the management of SFC is down to the management not the fans - they though will reap the good and possibly the bad - as we know only too well.

Still just under half a season to go though - the wheels could still fall off. PUP

I'm loving SB's new avatar...."Portsmouth Surrender"...Looks like they accept that they will NEVER be Hampshire's top club again...<bubbly><magic>:1980_boogie_down:
